The Hawaii diet by Dr. Terry Shintani has been gaining popularity recently. The diet is nothing earth-shattering, although the book bearing its' name makes some very bold claims. Essentially the diet is a meal management plan that involved removing certaiin types of food.

The logic behind the diet

The whole diet is based on Dr. Terry Shintani's Mass Index of Food (SMI). This formula is basically the number of pounds of a given food it takes to provide a day's worth of calories. Foods are then rated by this index.

Summary of the Hawaii Diet

The diet is a little convoluted in places, and the eating plan will probably be tough to stick to. There are better and easier diets on the market.
