best way to loose weight with weights?

KrysHaley said: "You want to use weights that are large enough that it takes work to move them, but small enough that you don't hurt yourself. Start small, and work your way up as it gets easier to move them. And you definatly want to do 2 sets of 8-12 reps of any exercise. It's the movement and muscle work that does the job, the weights only add resistance and help you along. Hope this helps!"

If you can do the reps and sets mentioned by Krys with little problem or burn, then you need a heavier weight. I still use a 3 pound weight for many of my exercises, although bigger muscles need a heavier weight. I use a 5 pound for biceps and for standard rows because a 3 pound does nothing. You can buy a variety of weights for a decent price at WalMart, and you just need to experiement at first."
