Teen Bodybuilding

Teen bodybuilding as a sport is still not as popular among teenagers like football or basketball, it is getting better. More and more young teens are going to the gym to look and stay healthy and attract young ladies. But is it wise for young teens to regularly lift weight? Of course! Taking it up at a young age will prevent them from doing harm to their bodies. As long as teenagers follow guidelines offered in the gyms and books, there is no reason for them to become worried. And of course, it is going to help them in their future. Bodybuilding an early age can be very beneficial, as it can establish a strong base from which they can build in the years to come.

Teen bodybuilding tips:

  • If you are a teenager and are interested in bodybuilding, then it is good news. But do consult a doctor before starting any new exercise program, especially if you are overweight, have high BP or have any other medical conditions.
  • Bodybuilding is hard work. It can take years to get a great body. So take it easy. Do not start out too hard, make a program that you can follow on a regular basis.
  • Run, swim or bike for at least 3 times a week and work out at least 30 minutes or more per session to condition your heart and lungs.

  • Vary your workouts. Don't keep the same routine for months and months. Variety is the spice of life. Mixing things up will keep things interesting and target different muscle groups.
  • Rest when you need to. If you feel tired, cut back your exercise schedule.

Keep in mind that a your body is still growing, so it is important that you fuel your body to assure that you don't stunt your growth. Eat a diet rich in lean meats, fruits and vegetables. Eliminate or cut back on foods that are high in fat or have very little nutritional values, like fast food, chips, soda and candy. Being a healthy teenager will improve your chances of being a healthy adult. Taking this step now is easier than doing it later.
