Bodybuilding with a budget
Bodybuilding is not cheap. Though there is not too much prize money
involved here, the costs involved are not meager, to say the least.
Firstly you need to sign up with a gym and pay there every month. Then
there are the extra foods that you need to eat plus the supplements. If you
want to become a serious bodybuilder, then you need a lot of rest as well.
So all things considered, it is difficult to do anything else if you are
bodybuilding. In that case, your income level also goes down.
So how can you carry out bodybuilding with a budget? Here are a few tips:
- Do not be hasty in selecting a gym. There are gyms that waive the
joining fee. Lookout for them.
- Make food the most important factor. Remember, supplements can only
supplement, while food is the building block. Food is also of course
much more cost effective than supplements.
- Try to buy in bulk to avail the discounts. Buy oatmeal, brown rice,
potatoes and beans in bulk or buy the larger sized containers when
they are on sale.
- Do not buy at the local grocery store. Look for a wholesale club or a
flea market to buy bulk foods or supplements.
- While buying supplements be careful. There are many options and all
may not suit you. So do not buy bulk here the first time. Try
something to find out whether it works on you. If it does, the next
time you may buy in larger quantities to save.
- Buy generic. Shop by value and not brand name.
- Do not throw anything away. Freeze extra rice or left-overs in
"snack" baggies.
- Make your own salads. Bagged lettuce and precut vegetables can cost 3-
4 times the price of an uncut version of the same food that provides
twice the servings.
If you feel uncomfortable purchasing a product, ask for assistance from a sales representative. Most will be happy to help you in making an informed decision on whether or not a product is suited to your specific needs. Many gyms will also offer
a trial period for you to decide if their gym is right for your needs.
