Gaining popularity on the Internet is the Lemonade Diet. We decided to find out as much information as we could concerning it. Truth is, we couldn't find much.

History of the Lemonade Diet

The Lemonade Diet was started in 1996 by a lemonade-loving Texan named Harold Gambiner. Harold lost over 60 pounds in 1978 by drinking lemonade and severely limiting his caloric intake. It's not clear what affect the Lemonade had on his weight loss, but Harold swore by it, and a legend was born.

Classification of the Lemonade Diet

The broad classification of the Lemonade Diet is that of "flusher/cleanser". The flush or cleanser diets are usually concerned with dropping weight by flushing toxins from the body. The dieter does that through the use of normal fasting techniques and also consumption of a product which will result in the flushing effect.

Disadvantages of the Lemonade Diet

The Lemonade Diet is not without its' pitfalls. Among them are:

  • The diet itself is idiotic. Of all the diets out there, this one ranks low on usability
  • Not everyone likes Lemonade, therefore the Lemonade Diet is not one that will be embraced by most people.
  • You won't be able to stay on this diet forever. Imagine drinking lemonade as your primary source of nutrition for the rest of your life. Not likely.

Summary

A definite thumbs down for this one. There are many other diets out there that promise much better results than the Lemonade Diet.
