top knotcher said: "Hi everyone! Has anyone here tried the Weight Watchers diet? Im trying to do that diet now and for some reason i stay sooooo hungry. I feel like i am literally starving at times. I know that diets are hard but this one is harder for me for some reason. I am trying to take it one step at a time and set goals of ten lbs at a time, and it seems as if as soon as i start a diet i will be great on it for a week or maybe two..... THEN i will become super hungry and mess the whole thing up!! Any suggestions on sticking to this particular diet? I also do cardio 30-45 mins a day SO hopefully when i do learn to stop eating so much on this diet i can begin to lose those lbs!!"

I have been following a modified version of weight watchers flex since December 04 with unbelievable success down -70ish lbs and mass quantities of inches the foundation of the points system is a really good tool for keeping yourself honest but there are many opportunities to sabotage yourself with poor food choices it's perfectly acceptable to eat a big macs under the flex program as long as you stay within your point allocation. However, if you eat clean and excercise with intensity its outstanding! I have hit a 5 wk plateau so having to change things up a bit and actually eat more calories to try and jump start my metabolism doesn't seem logical too me but in reality not much does! A great source for additional info on ww is dwlz.com lots of useful stuff! JayB"

I know one thing that generally helps everyone when they are dieting is drinking water. Everytime you feel a hunger pang, drink a half to a full glass of water. Alot of the time this will get rid of it. If not, have something to eat. Try to eat a bunch of times throughout the day, for example, Breakfast, snack, Lunch, snack, Supper, snack. For your snacks I believe weight watchers has unlimited foods do they not? Things like plain popcorn, certain veggies. I found if i'm following the canada food guide I don't usually get hungry ( it helps once you eat all the reqd servings of produce...) Good Luck!!"

For example, a 1/2 cup scoop of fat-free ice cream has 2 or 3 points...something like that. Or you could have an entire 1 cup lite fat free yogurt for 2 points. Or a cup of strawberries and a cup of blueberries. Or one of those snack-sized bags of 96% fat free microwave popcorn. Does that help? It worked pretty well for me because I have a voracious appetite :) I found that if I ate a lot of low-density foods like fruits, veggies, etc. that I felt better. Hope that helps :)"

spectrachic311 said: "The amount of points you get depends on your current height/weight and sex. So if you weigh more, you get more points. And if you're a guy, you get more points too."

Holly said: "Do you know about how many calories a day you're eating (I know Weight Watchers calculates food amount by points, but I don't know how many calories equals 1 point)? Perhaps you need to eat more foods with a higher fiber content, like Leah said, it helps to get those fruits and vegetables in. I've only heard good things about Weight Watchers, but I don't think you (or anyone else!) should have to go hungry all day! ;) I did quite a bit of research on Weight Watchers recently for a Securities Analysis class (I think it's a good pick for your stock portfolio :) ), and noticed they have a new Core Plan, where you don't have to count anything. I think it's to attract past Atkins dieters. Have you looked into that option as well? Good luck, keep us informed! :)"

Like you where saying, at the begining, since your minimizing your portion sizes, you'll feel hungry more often, drink water, lots and lots of water. Whenver you feel hungry, or think you do, have a big glass of water, it helps pass the craving. What i noticed when i first started, is that the two first weeks are the hardest, it takes time for your body to adjust to the massive changes. Don't fret, keep at it and after a few weeks you'll start beeing satisfied with your food intake as well as the weight loss. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask. Good luck and don't give up! Karyne"

I did lose weight on it, but it came back after I stopped.......it's more of a lifestyle change."

I just look at my sister and say "i can do it too". she has maintained the same weight for over a year now. i just need to get my kids to eat what i do and all will be good:)"

Scarlett said: "One thing is that starting any food regimend is going to leave you a little hungry at first. I usually live with it, then I get used to the diet. I like weight watchers, but it is annoying to count the points. I lost weight when I was on it, but I didn't stick to it. I recently started the South Beach diet, it has three different phases. I am now on phase two and have decided that not only should I do South Beach but I should count my calorie points as well so I know I am not eating too many calories. It is the best thing ever. I am left not hungry and feeling completely satiated. At first doing phase one of South Beach was very very hard (you are very restricted to pretty much a diet of only eggs meats and veggies, oh yes cheese two), but I had to purge my body from the sweets and white flours and all of that such stuff. Now I eat only whole grain and whole wheat breads on phase two (in which you can eat fruits and whole grains, cereals, and all of that such stuff) and it is awesome. Mixing weight watchers in is the best thing I have done so far. I keep track of my carbs and calories now. wow that was long :p"

autum_goddess said: "I read somewhere all about carbs and atkins and such. With simple carbs like refined sugars, and white bread and white rice, you get calories, and your body digests it all so fast, that you get hungry again so soon. Wtih more complex carbs, like whole wheat bread and brown rice etc... it adds fiber and it takes much longer for your body to digest it, so you dont get hungry as quick...which i am guessing is what South Beach is geared more twards. I have been trying to replace these carbs as much as possible. Things like whole wheat angel hair posta, or the store i work at has their own brand of bread that is whole wheat, but had the taste and texture of white bread. Things like this make it much easier to add whole wheat into your diet, and makes your body happier once the added fiber gets moving through."

GreenEyes said: "My sister-inlaw is on Weight Watchers and she does it all online. She has the number of points that she can eat for the day and she can look up foods online and see how many points they are. If you exercise you get more points for the day. She also weighs in every week at her house and puts onto the website. She just started the program and has already lost some weight. Rachel"
