this will help to warm up and cool down your muscles. this will help to reduce or prevent your muscles getting sore."
Heather said: "Always be sure to warm up and cool down. It doesn't matter what type of exercise your doing. Especially in the cold months of winter. The cold is kind of shocking to muscles that are warm from exercise!"
Heather said: "A really hot shower or bath helps sometimes.
If you are lucky enough to have access to a hot tub or jacuzzi, that might be even better."
Elaine said: "I did a lot of exercise this weekend, and am finding myself feeling SORE!
Can I do anything to help it?"
Elaine said: "Thanks for all the helpful advice. I was doing a little looking around on the internet and was wondering if maybe it has something to do with lactic acid buildup, too?"
Elaine said: "
soreness basically IS lactic acid buildup... unless you've injured something. stretching is a good way to prevent it from ever happening, but one thing you can do, if you're sore in the legs, is lie on the floor with your legs propped up straight against the wall. I don't know why this works, something about draining the lactic acid, but a coach taught it to me in highschool and it really does do wonders.
Thanks for the tip. I will have to give that a try. I have an exercise ball I've been using to stretch out, too. It helps my back.."
Darren said: "Potassium helps, so eat a banana. That, plus rest, will help. Soreness is good! Means you're working."
Darren said: "Sure. That's why people use creatine, to defeat the lactic acid build up.
Soreness is really a pretty natural state. Obviously, if you're in complete pain it's no good, but it's a sign you've been working out hard."

Yeah. Stretching is very important."
cvalh said: "stretch even on your days off for maybe 15 minutes. it's good for your muscles, and it feels great. but make sure it's after you've done a little walking, so you don't pull anything. if you stretch while your muscles are cold, you could pull something."
