Any advice to keep away. I drink water lots of it, but I still wander around just looking for something to snack on. I hear cheese was a good thing. and Im not a huge nuts fan. ANY suggestions??"

Cut up fruit, vegetables, low-fat of any sort of munchies, carrots because they tire the jaw, salads. Watch out for eating too much cheese as it is high in calories and fat, dressings and mayo dips are also high in calories. Keeping your hands and mind busy would be also ideal. As mentioned earlier, even a video hand held game.Go for a walk around the building, if you can leave the building for a half hour during the coffee breaks. There are some pretty good trail mixes, or making a trail mix yourself through bulk food areas might help. The dried fruit is a nice alternative to fresh. I drink crystal light and sports drinks along with water during day. The crystal light and sports drink seem to help the hunger along when you don't eat. You might also like rice crackers with peanut butter, rice chips."

I'm thinking a book, crossword puzzle, bills that need to be paid. I guess it depends on your policies and procedures there. Or you could be brave, and ask for more work, if that's appropriate. :)"

Qian said: "I just bring in my own snacks that are good to eat. Fruit, veggies, maybe a granola bar or crackers. When I get hungry that's what I munch on, it helps me stay away from chips and cookies."

Sassysurfnic said: "Sorry, but I don't really have any advice. I sit at a desk all day long too and then sit in class all night long. I do though take little random walks all over the building. I used to work in retail and I was literatly running all day long and then I came here (my new "sit -down" job) and I can't sit still that long now. I personally would not be able to snack on cheese. Mainly because I don't know how. I am a cheese-a-holic BIG TIME. I can eat a whole brick of cheese in 2.5 seconds flat. I LOVE THE CHEESE. So personally that doesn't work for me . I do keep cucumbers and salad dressing for dipping at my desk and I have these reduced fat, wheat triscut things (generic brand from my grocery store). When I am craving a "junk food" they are still healthy but they have the salt thing going on so it's like my mouth thinks "yes i am getting junk!" I also only take about a handful out of the box and put them in a small bowl and then I put the box away. If I just ate right out of the box I think I might be a blimp! I also park kinda far away from the building. I am NO where as active as I used to be so I park further away and walk fast from my car to the office. Anything I can do for a little exersice. So that's about what I do and if I can think of anything else I'll be sure to share it. :)"

I find that if I take a few minutes every morning and pick out a Lean Cuisine or make a turkey sandwich for lunch then grap an apple or a pear, some lite popcorn, low cal yogurt, a baggy of wheat thins, etc. to snack on, I don't junk out during the day. I also save money. The key is thinking ahead and creating a no-fail environment. Best Wishes! :)"

Ms.Brender said: "Lotus~ You must tell me about putting squash in your water. I've never heard of such. What kind do you use? I've always done the orange/lime/lemon slice thing, but never squash. I always love a new idea!"
