What you can do is to replace your refined carbs with whole grain options. Replace your white rice with brown rice, eat whole wheat pasta, and try maybe eating quinoa or barley or oatmeal. Measure your portions out and stick to that portion size. You will find that the whole grain carbs keep you full longer because they have a lot of fiber in them.
Also, what I did was to fill in the rest of my meal with lots of veggies so I would feel more satisfied. Instead of a huge plate of pasta with tomato sauce and meatballs, I had a cup of whole wheat penne pasta with a little marinara sauce and a salad. Amazingly, I felt a lot fuller than when I ate all the pasta.
Hope that helps :)"

I am now eating tons of proteins and have eliminated the bad carbs. I eat the good carbs but limit them. Whole wheat bread and organic whole wheat cereal. Everything else is protein. It took me a while to get used to it- I won't lie. I have been eating like this since 2005- now it is so easy for me to not eat carbs. You get used to it after a while. My tip to you is to stick with it. Once you do it for so long, it becomes part of your life."

I am trying again to elimanate them during phase 1 of the south beach diet which has worked for me in the past..my trouble came when I introduced those carbs back in and I did not set reasonable limits and they just kept increasing until I was gaining weight again
Good luck to you, you know you can do it just make one change at a time"

Are there any other carb lovers out there and what do you eat?
I tend not to eat a portion of pasta, rice, potato-i eat a plateful!
I find it difficult to imagine meals without loads of carbs, that wouldn't have me starving a half hour later.
Any advice would be lovely"

I know carbs are the reason for my weight gain, and i do try to limit them but it is very difficult.
I've heard a few people talk about the South Beach diet, would you recommend it?"
mumtobcwa said: "Not a big fish fan!! Tinned tuna at the most.
Not a big meat eater, probably why i eat so much carbs!
Chicken/turkey is about all i can manage and the odd piece of red meat.
I love all vegetables though is that any use?"
