Who Writes this Stuff? The REAL Top 10 Things a Woman wants for Valentines Day

cvalh said: "I think there's basically nothing on either list I'd get particularly excited about, lol... Though, Shorti, yours came closer."

DBrew said: "I can see your points, Shorti, but I appreciate anything my hubby would do to surprise me! I also really love alot of diferent heart jewelry, pendants not so much, but I would like a ring or something cute. Love white roses, HATE uggs. There is reason they are called Uggs, and that is because they are UGGly! Haha. Hobo bag is a style of bag. They normally do not look worn. I would take one, but it would have to be non-leather. I love chocolate, but I would notant a whole box! I would need a robe to hide all the fat I gained eating the chocolate, so if he got me chocolate, he would have to get me the robe, too, because I would no longer be fitting my jeans! This was funny, Shorti!"

DBrew said: "Oh joshys girl, that is terrrible! Its like, if the flowers are dead, just dont bother. I would rather have nothing then be an afterthought. It is pathetic! I love it when my hubby puts time and effort into gift giving. It does not happen often and i guess that is why it is so appreciated. I do not think he has ever thought ahead to get me a birthday gift-ever! So Shorti, now you are going to have to get a sexy nighty for pizza and a movie. IT will be much more fun that way! ^_~"

DBrew said: "Oh that is very fun! I love it when hubs takes me on shopping sprees. That is what he used to do for my b day. He would feel bad about forgetting it and then take me shopping. I did not complain! It would have been nice to be thought of ahead of time, though. It sounds like you guys will ahve a tremendous time!"

DBrew said: "Lucky you, shorti!"

Kat_the_Amazon said: "Shorti- my sister-in-law lost her wedding ring/engagement ring in their front yard... where occasionally a car runs through it. That was about 3 months ago and she's pretty much given up trying to find it... especially now that they are moving. And i LOVE diamonds!!!!!"

Diamond said: "Your list cracked me up, Shorti! How true ;) Any gift would be good as far as I'm concerned. I'm surprised that they didn't have something like renting a nice hotel room for a night (or two) or maybe a gift certificate foe a body massage/spa/hair etc. Nothing quite eases stress like a full hour under the hands of a skilled masseuse!"

**Shorti** said: "Okay so I saw this list online for the Top 10 things a woman wants for Valentine's Day.. it made me laugh because it was so unpractical! No wonder men are confused after the message these dopes online are sending them: TOP 10 GIFTS FOR HER according to the Pro's. An my Top 10, according to reality: What they Say: #1 Valentine’s Day Roses A symbol of enduring passion, red roses on Valentine’s Day capture the essence of pure romance. Give her a beautiful rose bouquet as a token of your undying love for her, it will be a moment that she will never forget. What I Say: # 1 Try a Pepremoia Plant: completely un-killable even if (after running after 4 kids all day long, doing 5 loads of laundry, doing the dishes twice and planning a that luncheon for your kindergartener's parents meeting) you dont remember to water it for the 2 straight week in a row. It only costs $6 which means your man saved $54 which will promptly be put towards Little Johnny's 8th pair of shoes this year. (Damn growth spurts) What they Say: #2 Diamond Stud Earrings It’s true that diamonds are a girl’s best friend, so surprise your Valentine with a pair of gorgeous diamond stud earrings! Choose from gold, white gold, platinum, she’s sure to fall in love with anything you surprise her with. What I Say: #2 - What?!?! you had $300 to buy me some silly bauble I would hopefully wear to a dinner out (which we only manage twice a year) when Kristen's car payment is due next month and she doenst have it? Did you forget we co-signed for that thing! *squeel of frustration* What they Say: #3 Apple iPod Nano 4GB MP3 Player - Silver Tickle her senses this Valentine’s day with a new iPod Nano! She can watch her favorite movies and listen to music with excellent quality of visuals and sound. A neat surprise would be to pre-load movies and music that bring back romantic memories for the both of you! What I Say: #3 A new MP3 player? What makes you think I have time to preview, download songs, then figure out how to work the thing? My idea of some good music is just trying to escape from another rendition of High School Musical (I'd like to bore my ears out now, thank you.) I'd rather you buy me a pair of custom made ear plugs so I can get some sleep tonight over your "deviated septum" aka snore-fest-ta-pa-looza! What they Say: #4 Hot Hobo Handbag The hobo style handbag is the hottest of the season, so show her that you are tuned in to her inner fashionista with the gift of a beautiful bag of her own. Perfect colors for this season are red, metallic or jewel tones by designer brands like Marc Jacobs, Stuart Weitzman and Kate Spade. What I Say: #4 Okay let me get this straight, so Hobo (aka poorly made rag-bag) is in now? Great I have tons of worn out crap already. Instead of buying me another useless bag that may or may not go with any of my clothing, why dont you buy me something that looks new because it is new. The microwave has been acting up and anyday its going to go nuclear on us. What they Say: #5 Heart Pendant Searching for the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for that lovely lady in your life can be difficult! Whether you are searching for gifts for the wife, the mom or the girlfriend, she’s going to be thrilled with a gorgeous heart pendant to remind her how much you love her. What I Say: #5 As far as I am concerned I grew out of "heart" jewlery when I was 14. Although the heart is a very nice symbol of love and devotion I would rather hear words of love and devotion from my loved one, versus a tiny silver heart I will probably lose in a month. So instead of buying me some random piece of jewlery, write me a love letter, confess you continuing undying love for me, or just hold me close tonight while I fall asleep in your arms. What they Say: 6 Ugg Shoes Toast up her tootsies in a fabulous pair of Ugg boots! These boots are perfect for wearing on romantic winter strolls through the park and are the hottest shoes for this season. What I Say: #6 Okay, I am not 16, nor do I want to be. So why would I want these fad-boots mainly designed to thrill the lives of 12-16 year olds? Instead of "Thug-boots" can I have a nice pair of slippers instead, mine are all dirty on the bottom and have holes in the toes. My feet thank you What they Say: #7 Romantic Bath Kit Make this Valentine’s Day holiday unforgettable with the gift of a romantic bath kit. Take the kit on a weekend getaway and indulge in your deepest fantasies. Some kits include warming massage oils, rose scented bubble bath, succulent scented candles and more! What I Say: #7 I dont know about you, but my bathroom is already cramped with soaps and tubs of this and that. It seems every Christmas I get at least 3 bath sets, all with varying fragrances. Forget getting MORE for Valentine's Day. Instead of more bath supplies, how about you take the kids out for dinner so I can actually TAKE A BATH in peace? That is my ultimate fantasy. What they Say: 8 Valentine’s Day Chocolate Truffles Make all of her chocolate dreams come true this Valentine’s day and give her a traditional gift of a box of decadent chocolates. Some candies come in cute collectable tins, some come in sexy satin heart-shaped boxes, either way, you will melt her heart. What I Say: #8 Do I even need to go into detail of why buying me a box of saturated fat and 1,000 calories is not my idea of a good present? Instead, why don't we go for a walk together, or go on that hiking trip I have been planning for months? What they Say: 9 Keepsake Box A stylish & beautiful Valentine’s Day keepsake box would be even more meaningful with an engraved message or your Valentine’s name. Make it a bigger surprise and hide a pair of diamond stud earrings or heart pendant inside! What I Say: #9 Great! Something else I have to dust. Instead, why dont you hire a maid service to catch up on all the dusting I havent already been doing... thanks babe! What they Say: #10 Lacey Robe Have her slip into something more comfortable, sexy and romantic when she puts on her new lacey robe! It will be a Valentine’s gift for the both of you! What I Say: #10 I love my fiance very much, but the poor man has NO idea what size I am. Everything he buys is 2 sizes too small, so the last thing I need on Valentine's Day is to be reminded I cant fit into a size 10. Instead of buying me another piece of clothing I will have to (shamefully) return, I would love a new cashmere scarf, one size fit all and my neck gets to be that much warmer this chilly winter. Disclaimer: I know I dont speak for all women but I think I have come a lot closer to the truth. For those instances I referenced children, I dont have any myself but have been an aunt for 20 years, so I know I got somewhere close to the truth. Thanks!"

**Shorti** said: "DBrew - *L* I know I would probably get excited about 1/2 the stuff on the list too, but the list was just SO cliche I had to make fun of all of it. For valentines day I asked for flowers (dont care what kind) and for a nice dinner out to this restaurant I have wanted to go to for 2 years now. I'd have to put on a dress and everything! But alas, we found out that we are really tight in our bills for the next 2 months, so I guess I will have to settle for a pizza/movie night instead. :) And I agree, Uggs are uggly. They look like slippers on steroids. Plus they are really expensive! whenever I go to the mall every other pair of feet are wearing them, most often 16yrs and under... I already have enough trouble getting people to realize I am 24...not going to make it worse by wearing something that dates me to under 18. Blech!"

**Shorti** said: "**drool** massage.....I had my first official massage at a real fancy salon in October. it was so nice, now I kinda wish I hadnt gone though because now I want one again and there is no way we can afford them... *sigh* Maybe I will have to buy a new nighty for valentines day, although he prefers just me in one of his button-downs or t-shirts. Works for me cause I dont have to buy anything new! *L*"

**Shorti** said: "I like diamonds but right now I dont think I deserve them. The christmas of '06 fiance bought me a 1/2 carat journey neclace... and I've lost it!! :sad010: I was SO upset when I realized it wasnt in my jewlery box and I didnt know where else it could be. Makes me tear up everytime I think about it because it was the 1st diamond he has ever bought for a woman. He says its ok and not to worry that it will turn up, but so far all areas I have un-earthed or cleaned up it has not appeared. The last time I remember wearing it was Thanksgiving, I thought I wore it at Christmas but I cant remember for sure. I really miss it...so until it re-surfaces I dont deserve any more nice jewelry. :("

joshysgirl said: "i'd take anything for v-day! my husband is lousy at gift giving-last year i ended up w/ a 1/2 dead dozen of roses from wal-mart--now that's romance folks-lmao"

joshysgirl said: "lol it is terrible! but he is a good husband. actually this v-day-he's taking me shopping to get some new clothes to fit my new body :) then out to dinner and maybe even hit the slots if i didn't spend all his money at the mall-i'm pretty stoked!"

joshysgirl said: "well i can't speak for every woman rudy-but all the ones i know, including myself-LOVE DIAMONDS!!!"

nancy_mrn said: "I showed a list simialr to this to my husband when we were first married 11 years ago....since that time he makes it a habit to tell me each day that I am his favorite person and he cleans better than I do.. I am such a lucky lady! btw when he married me I brought three small children to the marriage and he now sports a wonderful head of grey hair."

amber_fairy said: "LOL, I definatly like your list better. Maybe I will print out your list and give it to my hubby."
