Steak

shrkntz said: "I still eat it but the size is about as big as my palm, 6oz roughly. There is nothing wrong with it as long as you pick a nice lean cut. I eat it once a week, the protein is very good for you."

Leah20 said: "It seems from what i'm looking at that steak is really bad! I always thought lean steak was healthy, but it says it's like 700 calories for a piece! Does anyone know the actual calories of a small sirloin steak?"

Leah20 said: "Thanks Guys! I cut any fat that was on it off. Instead of making a steak for each of us, I cut one in half. So I estimated it to be about 310 calories. I made some mashed potatoes, but only 1 cup for each of us. I was still able to stay under 1200 calories for yesterday."

Razor said: "Pretty much the only steak that is lean and decent is eye of round steak. Sometimes they do not have it packaged but you can go to the butcher block and get a eye of round roast cut into thick steaks."

Holly said: "I just googled "calories in steak" and I found a table that said 5 oz. of lean serloin steak was 350. Fattier cuts were higher, of course. I guess that would be OK  . I suppose it depends on how many side dishes you plan on having with it."

Holly said: "Oops, looks like Qian beat me to the punch. ;)"

Holly said: "No, but usually it gives a website with the table I want all ready to go. I think I stumbled upon an Anne Collins website when I was looking for steak."

Qian said: "Looks like a 4 oz piece of top sirloin is going to be around 225 calories. Lean steak is great to have as long as you keep the serving size in check. usually lean beef at 4 oz won't go above 250 calories (broiled, not fried). I got this out of the "The Ultimate Weight Solution Food Guide" by Dr Phil. It has a pretty decent calorie guide in it."

Qian said: "No worries Holly. Does google have a calorie index?"
