lets all give something bad up for a month

cvalh said: "I'm with Mahesh. I have to consider. I'm probably going to say any fast food dinners, with the exception of subs (I leave that exception because I can get a pretty healthy sub on nights I'm too tired to cook). Even when I get those, though, I need to leave out the chips and stuff ;)"

cvalh said: "I had a teacher who had a swear jar... We had to put so much money in every time we swore, and then, the jar was donated to the same place as our canned food drives."

cvalh said: "OOPS! I already screwed up. I left school early with a killer headache, but hadn't really eaten, so I was hoping that was the problem. Ended up getting Chick-Fil-A. I think I need to stick a reminder note on my steering wheel, because I'll do that - I 'll be in my car and just flat out forget!"

cvalh said: "I'd have to write a note on my hand every day - that means remembering every morning before I leave, heh. And I don't look at my hands. And I'm not sure what good the rubber band would do, since I don't look at my hands. Snapping myself 3 hours later would do about as much good as berating myself 3 hours later. LOL BUT! I do drive my car to get the stuff, so if the note is near my wheel, or radio, or something, I think it'll be good."

cvalh said: "I consciously changed my mind about doing fast food for lunch today (I was in the car on the way home from a morning full of testing)... Yay, I remembered!"

spectrachic311 said: "There's a really funny commercial for some brand of beer...this office decides to have a "swear jar" and with the money, they were going to throw a beer party. So the entire office starts cussing like crazy to fill up the swear jar really fast. It was a pretty funny commercial. I'm going to give up diet soda for the month. I've cut down on it a lot, but I still drink it and it's not exactly healthy. Plus, it's getting expensive to buy it, so I think I'll try to give it up and drink only water instead."

spectrachic311 said: "So, I've been doing pretty good with my soda thing. I used to drink about 4 or so a day and I've cut back to only one. But I have been drinking more water, so I guess that's a good thing. Maybe I should try the rubber band thing, lol. How's everyone else doing?"

whateverhobb said: "I will give up chips too! I LOVE chips. So until Feb 11 no chips for me. This is a great idea by the way."

xlilphishx said: "I am giving up everything that has Sweet and Low, Splenda and any fake sugars. That was my New Years Resolution. They are apparently linked with MS."

xlilphishx said: "
I will affix a rubber band ( a HUGE one) to my wrist. Everytime I say a fuc-.... bad word...I will pull back rubber and LET IT GO! Before long I bet I quit the habit.
 That's pretty funny."

DBrew said: "Okay I am late on this, but I think stating here that I will give up chocolate for a month will really help me. SO for the rest of Jan. and all of Feb. no Chocolate! Could I have picked a worse month with Valentines day coming? I am sure I will find another way to sabatoge my low sugar efforts(ie heart shaped sugar cookies!) But I am sure no chocolate should really help me. It would not be bad if I could eat a controlled amount, but when I start eating it, I can not stop and sooner or later, I have eaten 500 extra calories! I am so happy you posted this. So no more chocolate!!!!!!"

secondchance said: "Since I found this thread late I guess I am staring for feb. I am going to give chocolate, and procrasting. Two very different things but hey, they do kind of go hand in hand with weight loss."

secondchance said: "Honesty I completley forgot about the chocolate, but I did end up giving fast food (or basically anything with a drive thru) I still need to work on procrastinating because while I am on the site right now I should be doing homework! lol"

Kat_the_Amazon said: "hum... i'll try to give up pastries. I LOVE pastries and lately i have been eating too many of them!"

Kat_the_Amazon said: "
I will affix a rubber band ( a HUGE one) to my wrist. Everytime I say a fuc-.... bad word...I will pull back rubber and LET IT GO! Before long I bet I quit the habit.
Ouch!! (lengthing...)"

2littlemessmakers said: "ok guys i had this idea .. i want to give something bad up this month and i want to know if anyone else is willing to give something up too?? Mine will be chocolate since christmas i have been eating it every single day.. and i want to stop it... I loooove it but it doesnt love me back lol.. i am hoping to give it up this month and hopefully not want it any more after that what about you???"

2littlemessmakers said: "lmao all i said was something bad swearing is bad.. and that is very inventive thing to give up LMAO so what you gonna do get a swear jar??? lol"

2littlemessmakers said: "lmao i will have to try that one with my husband.. he swears far too often and our 3 year old is copying.. so its not nice at all .. I could think of a few more painful places to put it though lol"

2littlemessmakers said: "Fast food is a hrad one to give up as a student lol. At least you didnt get a pizza or something ..lol"

2littlemessmakers said: "i had chocolate the day before yesturday with out thinking my very depressed friend rang me up and i found myself looking for crap to survive talking to her lol....i ate a snack size milk chocolate bar ... .. lol and considering i started this whole idea im BAD!!!! lmao... its was little i promise...."

Diamond said: "I will give up potato chips. I know these things are bad, bad, bad and aren't nutritious. I haven't had them so far this month so I'm off to a good start."

Diamond said: "Way to go Penny and Cass. Nancy, I'll give you a pass. That's a lot of stuff to give up in entirety. I haven't had any chips, either. Add my name to the list."

Diamond said: "I haven't ate any chips since I committed to this thread. Even last night when we had sandwiches for dinner - I made baked potatoes instead. How is everyone else doing?"

mahesh67 said: "I will have to consider what to give up. But good idea."

mahesh67 said: "I will quit swearing. But I dont see how it will help me lose weight!"

mahesh67 said: "I will affix a rubber band ( a HUGE one) to my wrist. Everytime I say a fuc-.... bad word...I will pull back rubber and LET IT GO! Before long I bet I quit the habit."

mahesh67 said: "Hehe. You can modify it as needed to make most impact"

mahesh67 said: "Write a note on your hand maybe. Or wear a rubber band."

mahesh67 said: "I eat at the computer all the time. I didnt know it was bad?"

Thin_On_The_Inside said: "wow make sure everyone writes up how they are going with this. i was finding it hard to think of something to give up since i've only just started this journey and i feel like i'm giving up so much already! BUT i think the last post was great, i dont really eat at the computer, but i know alot of people do. So i am going to give up eating in the car AND i'm going to extend this to giving up any fast food you can purchase through a window. This pretty much just leaves me with subway lol.....or fish n chips.....but my god that would bad! i also think the rubber band idea is great! as long as it doesnt cut off your circulation while it's just sitting there! i am considering getting one just for when i THINK about chocolate!"

Thin_On_The_Inside said: "OMG. i seriously only remembered this when i saw this thread in the top five. i went through a drive through yesterday, but it was for a friend, and i only got a soda, no food! lucky i didnt feel like anything! *i said i would give up eating in the car and anything you can purchase through a window"

**Shorti** said: "Hmmmm. I will give up cookies. I've been craving them lately, and have almost made an entire batch just to satisfy the craving. I havent had any this month so it should be a good thing to continue resisting. This month, the Cookie Monster is my arch nemisis. No Cookies for me!"

**Shorti** said: "I am still cookie free...however I have been thinking a lot about them. Thinking about them makes me want one. Mainly thinking about how custom cookies would be a very cute wedding favor. Today I bought a cookie cutter shaped like a guitar, I was going to bake a batch for my friend and mail them to him, he's a musician. But now I've remembered that I have given up cookies until February 14th...so he'll have to wait to get them, cause there is no way I can cook a batch of sugar cookies and not each at least half of the dough!!! AHHHH!!! I need to be strong!!"

wifemommycoed said: "I think I will give up being negative--about myself and others. Ever notice how a bad attitude is contagious? We once had a "negativity jar" here. Anytime somebody said any negative comment, they had to pay. Lately, I'd be the one filling it up!"

RudyOrtiz67 said: "I have not eaten chocolate for two weeks now."

penny6 said: "i will give up chocolate in its candy form. no cookies, for me either. hopefully i can do it!"

penny6 said: "
OOPS! I already screwed up. I left school early with a killer headache, but hadn't really eaten, so I was hoping that was the problem. Ended up getting Chick-Fil-A. I think I need to stick a reminder note on my steering wheel, because I'll do that - I 'll be in my car and just flat out forget!
thats what places like chik-fil-a thrive on. better luck tomorrow."

penny6 said: "i have not had chocolate in candy form! it doesn't seem too hard yet."

penny6 said: "i havent had any chocolate yet, so so far so good. lately ive been having a bit of a craving for it, but have ignored it. ive ate enough chocolate to last a lifetime anyway."

penny6 said: "sorry i havent been here in a while! how did everyone do? i think i may have had a couple pieces of chocolate when all was said and done, but i ate a lot less of it anyhow. did it work for you?"

nancy_mrn said: "LOL you all are so funny....I think if I give up something it should be something that I am currently enjoying that is bad for me instead of continuing to abstaine from something I already have given up. so for me---boy this is a tough one I will give up--just for the month now---processed food/pasta ?..no bread, rice, pasta, chip etc. and omg pizza. that means all my meals will be veggie, protien, fruit with spices added I will start this on Saturday the 12th .. OMG what have I committed to now! Please keep me in line LOL"

nancy_mrn said: "well I said I was going to give up bread, pasta, rice and pizza .... so what did I do this morning? Ate pizza I think I will revise my plan and not be so gung ho on taking out the pizza, the rest I can do"

nancy_mrn said: "Great Job everyone! My will power has come back strong and soon I will be bragging too LOL"

Luckyseville said: "Im giving up booze until my 21st birthday in June. I know that sounds horrible but Im a college student, so therefore I can drink. LOL."

kidkate said: "Ok, I will give up grilled cheese sandwiches (all forms including quesadillas). Very hard to do as I LOVE grilled cheese!"

twinewoman said: "I will give up eating while sitting at the computer...right after I finish this meal. I have read that eating meals should never be done anywhere except the dining table so as to keep the act of eating "sacred". I buy that; make meal time more of a planned event and less of a distraction. Plus, if you avoid eating in the car, you are likely to avoid eating the type of food that can be purchased through your car window, which is typically not the best for you."

twinewoman said: "I don't think it is necessarily "bad" to eat at the computer, it just seems that sometimes if you are not focusing on just eating, you tend to not pay attention to the amounts you may be consuming or whether you are actually hungry or not...mindless eating, I have heard it referred to as."

twinewoman said: "I haven't eaten anything while sitting at my computer!"

MissBoBo said: "I think im going to give up fried foods. I honestly don;t like em much anyway. Great Idea!"

wildandhardtotame said: "I'll be giving up smoking come Feb 23rd. I'm starting to take my health more seriously. I've been over weight since childhood, and I'm ready for a change. I've been smoking since I was 13. Giving it up now will help my overall heath. I plan on getting some exercise videos and spending 10 minutes a day, to start. Looking to make some friends here. :th_dblthumb2:"
