Orphanages Stunt Intellectual Growth, a Study Finds

Most of the kids there stay there until they are 16, then they are let out on the streets and most of them turn to either crime, drug selling, or prostitution to make a living. And a lot of the kids there develop attachment disorder and other psychological problems. Some of them DO die from a lack of attention or just plain neglect. It's definitely a system that needs to be fixed ASAP. And I'm not so sure the American system is all that much better."

By 'stay alive' are you implying that people in orphanages or who are adopted die and people who remain with their biological families do not die? As for 'not abused' are you saying that people in orphanages and who get adopted are abused, and that people who remain with their biological families are not abused? Strange comments.[/QUOTE] Sorry tyciol, Orphanages in this country are pretty much a thing of the past. It's all foster care now. By the governments OWN statistics, children in foster care or adopted after their natural parents have had their parental rights terminated are 3 times more likely to be abused or DIE (YES, I said DIE!!!) If you go to group homes, rather than foster care that figure leaps to 28 TIMES! Don't take my word for it, you have google. Not 'strange' at all, but the general public has been taken in. The so-called child protective services are in SERIOUS need of a revamp!"
