And JUST today I started to feel a little better. Drink tons of water (won't help the scale, BUT...) it will help you feel, I dunno "cleaner" if that makes sense? I always feel refreshed when I'm drinking enough water. Just keep trucking along, I swear, I'm always feeling a week off from what I'm doing. Last week I was really good about going to the gym, and just now I'm starting to feel the rewards of it. Although I'm eating too much, and surely next week, I'll notice that...it's all cumulative! Anyway, you're doing great, ignore the dead cow feeling ;) Keep your head up!"

Maybe an apple, a handful of grapes a garden salad. All of these things are low in calories and have nutrients that your body could use to heal itself so it's more efficient at burning calories. Nutrition and calories both count!"

DrCOOL959 said: "Hey Jenny, Sorry for the incredibly long winded reply ahead of time: I think your doing pretty good with the eating, and considering your height (god your taller then me!) I think you can easily afford to eat 100-200more calories per day and you would still be losing weight. According to the calculators you should be burning in a sedentary state about 2,000 calories per day. Which Means if you take in 1500 calories per day you should be losing at about 1lb/week. Add exercise to that and you could be seeing a rate as fast as 2lbs/week. That said there are times when weight won't respond so linearly (as we would all like =)). In those cases you have to be patient. Sometimes it takes nothing more than sticking with your plan, and the plateu breaks. Sometimes you have to take another look at your plan to reaccess if you need to make changes. I think the changes you want to make are perfectly fine. As far as getting in that extra 100-200 calories per day. Wowza am I good at that! LoL. I would suggest just about any "trail bar". Be careful with these though they are so damn good, and not very filling, but they easily/quickly give you 100-200 calories w/o being as unhealthy as other calorie dense items. My personal favorites: Natures Valley: Sweet & Salty Nut Granola bars: Peanut [IMG]http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i301/DCX2006/51SGMSBW0TL__AA280_PIbundle-12TopRi.jpg[/IMG] ^170calories per bar Back To Nature Cranberry Almond Chewy Trail Mix Bars [IMG]http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i301/DCX2006/111100063_200x200.jpg[/IMG] ^120calories per bar Or since you are doing the South Beach diet there are south beach granola bars at most grocery stores. Not the most optimal use of calories I admit but not the worst either. (Fruits would be calories much better spent IMO) Again be careful, I've been known to go thro these things (although in my self defense if I didn't I would be underweight, I have an extremely fast metabolism<- boy, never thought I'd be typing that a year or two ago.) Also I think if you haven't been doing weight training now is the time to start. That doesn't mean you have to join a gym, you can do free body weight exercises, and *nearly* free exercises with free weights. *(considering weight plates/bars last about a lifetime!)."

Counting calories seems to be working out pretty well for me so far. Food has always been a big issue for me, i am an emotional eater and would also often eat out of boredom. Being a stay-at-home mom is great, but not great for keeping busy all the time. i found myself eating so much junk in the evenings after baby went to bed and hubby was at work. i've always been very concerned about my appearance, but my post-baby body made me finally make the move. for the first time in my life i feel in control of food. counting calories allows me to eat enough that i don't feel deprived, i just have to eat smaller portions and healthier options. last week was a bad week for exercise! i had the stomach flu first then gave it to my poor baby and husband, taking care of them didn't allow me much time or energy to work out! also yesterday we had a thanksgiving meal at the in-laws-i ate too many calories but i did have much more self control than normal-then for dinner we had salmon and veg couscous-that made me feel better about the crap for lunch,lol! anyway, i'm so glad i found this website. it's nice to be able to communicate with people who REALLY understand what it's like!"

joshysgirl said: "thanks for the support you guys, it means more than i can say! well i haven't logged my food on here the past couple of days, but i log in a journal too. i've been a little bad the past few days but still managed to stay between 14-1500 a day. i've started all my baking and have made double batches of 3 different kinds of cookies, a huge batch of seasoned goldfish, today i'm making homemade peppermint patties, and still have to make sugar cookies, and cupcakes....wow! i had 3 cookies on monday and 2 yesterday, but they are small 1-2 bite cookies. you kinda have to taste the finished product, right? :th_coolio: i haven't weighed today because i feel heavier, even though i'm probably not...just guilty i guess."

joshysgirl said: "well today was the big day at the dr., i spent about 30 min talking to him about all the issues i've been having. he referred me to a sleep specialist for my insomnia and gave me a trial pack of rozeram to try-hopefully they will work. i'm praying the sleep specialist will help me overcome my sleep disorder and life will return to normal. i haven't had more than a weeks worth of natural sleep in the past year. he also thinks that my fatigue and mild depression are a direct link to the insomnia...uggg.... as for my dizziness problems he said the most likely cause is due to my calorie restriction-he went on and on about how proud of me he was for my weight loss and how so few can actually do it but wants me to start eating 1800-2000 calories a day, my maintenance goal, for a while to see if it helps my dizziness before doing anything else. so i guess i won't be losing for a while, kind of a bummer."

joshysgirl said: "naynay-i'm sure that others can really tell when you lose 30 lbs...that's a lot of work! well we had a great weekend-had a sitter last night and went to des moines w/ some friends. we went out to eat at lonestar steak house and i did really well! no bread, salad w/ just vinegar and a little oil, most of a six ounce sirloin and 4 grilled shrimp and steamed veg as my side--i was full but felt good about what i ate. then we all went to a big country bar--my friends we went with are all into that sorta thing-my hubby def. isn't but they played a really good mix of music after 10-we danced and drank and laughed-it was a good time. on the way home we decided to stop by the casino and josh won 100 on roulette! so we ended up breaking even for the whole night! late night but much needed fun! i weighed this morning and i'm down to 164.6!!!! i've lost almost 3 lbs this week-i'm super stoked after not losing anything for 6 weeks!"
