For The Record.....

Heather said: "I agree that it is a totally personal decision whether or not you want to take diet pills. They aren't for everyone, and you can still get the same results with exercise and diet. I don't condemn or condone them. You just have to do the work either way."

Heather said: "*I* have never felt that you were promoting them. Diet pills have been around forever. I remember my mom taking Dexatrim back in the 70's!"

helplesscase said: "ok then....."

UniqueMystique said: ".....I do not promote taking pills to lose weight. I believe that this is a decision that an individual must make on their own along with their physician. I do not and will not try and convince anyone to take any medications or supplements. I will answer any questions about my situation and and my past experiences though. I have nothing to hide. We learn by sharing bits of ourselves here. :) Sorry for the rant....but someone felt I was promoting pill taking. :)"

UniqueMystique said: "I know, helplesscase....it's confusing. I had received a message outside of the boards about 'promoting'. I just wanted to clarify and didn't want others on the board thinking that I promote diet aides. No biggie!"

UniqueMystique said: "That's true...either way...you still have to work hard at it. You also have to be a responsible person and be sensible about things if you chose to use an aide. Everything is not black and white. There are grey areas in every aspect of people's lives. What works for one person is not necessarily going to work for another. I don't care if you do the exact same exercises and eat the exact same foods....things will vary from person to person. It just bothered me to get a message that I 'promoted' diet aides. If that person had read my post completely or any of my other posts about how I'm losing weight...they would have known where I stand on the issue. Criticism without the facts can sting."

UniqueMystique said: "I'm taking an appetite suppresant by the name of Anfepramona. It is not available in the States yet. It is on the market in Mexico and in Canada with a physicians prescription and monitoring. It works in conjunction with the chemicals in the brain to suppress hunger...basically convincing your mind that you are not hungry. Most appetite suppresants on the market in the states fill your tummy with some sort of filler to make you feel full. Your stomach will not decrease in size if you are using one with a filler. I also take an amino acid and potassium supplement...both prescribed for me along with the appetite suppresant. The amino acid is plant derived and is similar to the amino acid that our bodies produce normally. Amino acid is know for it's fat burning qualities. I take the Potassium to keep from getting muscle cramps. I also take amino acid injections. It's the same concept as mesotherapy here in the States. I drink loads of water and I work out at the gym at least 5 days per week for at least an hour a day...but usually about an hour and a half. I do both cardio and strength training. My diet, which really isn't a diet since I normally eat this way, consists of mainly lean meats and veggies. I'm not a fruit eater or a bread eater really....there are times when I will eat some...but it's not much. Just not my thing. I have cut out pastas and rices because it seems like I can eat a small portion and the next day I've gained 5 pounds! Anyhow...that's what I'm doing. I've posted about this before and I've said over and over that this is not the method for everyone nor would I suggest that anyone follow my program. It was designed for me by my physician! I'm not losing all that fast either.....on the average, about 2 1/2 pounds per week. It works for me...better than just diet and exercise alone. I know that once I lose all my weight that I will have to continue with the healthy eating and the exercising.....for the rest of my life! This is not a quick fix for me....it is a tool to help the process. Not everyone loses the same way. I love this site because it claims, "Lose Weight Your Way" and you don't feel that you will be judged. Just because I'm not doing things the way someone else is....doesn't make it wrong."

UniqueMystique said: "Thanks for being so understanding, guys. I try to be as helpful and supportive as I can be here and I just didn't want anyone thinking ill of me. I wasn't looking for a support site when I came across Featherish.....but I'm glad that I found it. I love helping others.....and ya'll help me more than you know.....mainly by rooting and cheering for me. It keeps me wanting to do my best. Thanks again...to everyone!"

UniqueMystique said: "Gee...who keeps digging all these old threads up? Hehehe! I'm no longer taking anything or getting the injections. It's just me and my choices now. Problems at the border has deterred me from using this method. There are similar methods here in the states but I've forgone even cecking them out. I'm doing alright on my own....just a much slower process now."

UniqueMystique said: "Yep...this thread is almost a year old. I saw the title and thought, "When did I post that?". Then I read it and knew I was going to have some explaining to do....heh heh heh. Ahh well....it's still a good subject matter and I've had many inquiries about this via private messages lately. Like I said before...I'll answer any questions....I've done this and have nothing to hide. :D"

UniqueMystique said: "I took phen-ter-mine for about a month. It didn't have much of an effect on my appetite. I had better appetite control with the anfepramona that this thread was talking about. Both medications were prescribed by the same doctor and I was monitored very closely. I didn't lose weight rapidly with the medications....I lost at a healthy rate of 2 - 2 1/2 pounds per week. I also worked my rear end off exercising. I did about 30 mins of cardio machines, 30mins of strength training, and 30 mins to an hour of swimming 5 days per week. I don't care if you are taking pills or not...you still have to realize that there is no quick fix or magic pill.....you have to work you fanny off and you have to make the right choices! My weight is coming off very slowly now. I can go months without losing a thing...then I'll drop a few pounds. I never gain though....I stay steady. I figure that I'm losing very healthily now since it is at such a slow pace. I would probably lose a bit quicker if I would make the time to get in some extra cardio during the week. I've no excuses other than I'm lacking the desire to make the time for it."

Holly said: "So....what are you taking? After all this discussion, now I'm just plain curious. :) It sounds like you are working with your doctor. Did he have to prescribe it to you or did he simply recommend something over the counter?"

Holly said: "No, it isn't wrong. In fact, I bet you're glad you found a plan that fits you. I'm still kind of wandering, looking for the way to lose my last pounds. I'm not worried though, I think it is just a matter of being more strict with myself. Anyway, I haven't read many posts written before March, so I didn't realize you were on a certain program (other than less calories, more movement). Continued Success!! :)"

Qian said: "You go UM. I hope people realize that everyone has a way that they are able to lose weight. We are not here to judge that, but to share our own experiences, offer suggestions, and show support. If someone hasn't tried a diet, don't judge someone else for trying it."

And you are one smart cookie, so if you are taking anything to help you along the way I know that you probalby researched it well enough before making such a decision."

kittykat79 said: "I figured this site was against promoting pills period. A couple weeks ago I posted a question about phen-ter-mine and it was deleted. All I wanted to know was if anyone took it and how it worked. I came back to see if anyone had responded and it was gone *poof* just like that. I'm taking hoodia gordonii right now that was suggested by my primary doctor. he also told me to use creatine to help speed up my metabolism. not sure if that works or not...LOL anyways...just though I'd add my 2 cents...lol"
