What is your favorite exercise/workout? Did you follow any special diet to lose the weight or did you just start counting calories?"

Diamond said: "How long does 60 miles take? It seems like it would be a while, but a great way to enjoy the outdoors and burn calories at the same time."

Diamond said: "You look fabulous! You can definitely tell a big difference. I'm sure that hiking and biking has got to a lot easier without the extra weight. How often do you do the 60 miles? Once a week?"

mahesh67 said: "Well this is really great news. Glad to hear of your success."

mahesh67 said: "Yeah that 60 miles sounds time-consuming."

mahesh67 said: "Yeah I figured 60 mile days took some time! Good work."

My favorite excercise now - hopping on my mountain bike and doing a 60 mile trail day. I had a semi-strict diet. For breakfast I had either yogurt, oatmeal, or a healthy cereal. For lunch I'd have a sandwich (turkey or tuna w/ a TINY bit of mayo), dry cereal, or a piece of grilled chicken. For dinner, I let up a little bit, but kept it healthy for the most part - chicken, pasta, pork, salads with low fat dressing, and later started eating a turkey sandwich for dinner every night. Easy and delicous. For snacks I'd have Snyder's pretzels (I had very little salt in everything else I ate, so the low salt in Snyder's was fine for a few servings a day), wheat thins, dry cereal, and fruit. I'm going through old pictures right now, and wow, I don't even recognize the person from a year and a half ago. I can post a before and after if you'd like. Hope to talk to you all soon![/quote] Congrats! and welcome to featherish! I love before and after pics, I was looking thro some old pics also and might do the same, it really is a trip! Also I commend you on a 60mile trail ride, god daaaamn! lol I ride bikes too, but no where close to that far! someday maybe tho! =)"

stolenbike said: "Hello everyone, new here. I joined the forums to get tips to not only lose my remaining weight, but to maintain it with healthy diet and regulated excercise. Well here's my story: In January of 2006 I was 18 years old and weighed 318 pounds. I'm 6'4'', and I have a big build, but I was finally very insecure. The weight was also preventing me to do all the things I wanted to do - backpacking, biking, canoeing, swimming. By the end of the month I got myself on a very regimented schedule. I worked out 5 days a week (1 hour weight training workout) - MWF was upper body workout, TTH was lower body. Before every workout I rode the stationary bike 5 miles. My diet consisted of low fat, medium calorie foods. I was burning a lot more calories than I was used to, so I needed more than 1500 a day. I probably consumed between 1800 - 2200 calories a day, but cut out all sweets for the first 4 months. By June I lost 70 pounds, and because of the speed of the weight loss, I developed lower and upper back problems and my galbladder started to produce gallstones. After the galbladder surgery I got a little scared I jumped into things, and laid back for awhile. I dropped a little more weight, then gained a bunch back over the winter. In January of 2007 I started back up again - but had to change my workout routine immensely. I had severe back pain, and went to PT for 3 months. Instead of high-weight workouts, I did low-weight with high reps, and since I was lighter than before, I did a lot of biking, hiking, and other outdoor activities. Now I am down to a healthy 221 pounds at 20 years old, just a few pounds short of my 100 lb loss. My back injury is still there, but it is MUCH better. I'm continually doing excercises every day to improve it, and now I want to lose the rest of the fat. I still can drop probably 15-20 pounds, but I want to build up more muscle as well. I believe with little body fat and more muscle I will be at 210-215, so my goal is not necessarily weight loss, but getting myself into the best shape possible. This summer I have been doing all the things I've wanted physically, and hope to only improve on those in the coming years. So hello to everybody, and I hope we can learn from each other :)"

stolenbike said: "60 miles trail days take, well, all day! Usually around 9 hours, 10 with a few breaks. Paved trails can be done much quicker, about half the time usually - and are also a great workout. I also played a ton of tennis this summer, and hope to find a private club around here so I can continue into winter. The famous before and after. Here it goes: I gained a few more pounds since this, but it's been in muscle. Also, I apoligize for the silly face - I can't take a serious picture for the life of me. I can't include the link because of my lack of posts, so if you want to see the before and after, just copy this into your browser: i107.photobucket.com/albums/m310/bryanonfilm/wightloss.jpg Thank you for all your kind words, seems like a great community here."

stolenbike said: "Haha, I can never do a serious face or pose! I do a 60 mile trail ride seldomly, but I probably average 100 miles a week on my bike (half of which is trail). If people from Massachusetts drivers were respectful to bicyclists, I'd start riding my bike everywhere, but alas they are not."
