pixiechic said: "i like to have egg beaters and canadian bacon.
1/2 cup of egg beaters contains 60 calories and is equal to 2 eggs. it has 12 grams of protein and no fat. i scramble them up in a pan using butter flavor cooking spray. if you want, you can add peppers, mushrooms, cheese or other omelet stuff.
4 peices of canadian bacon have about 94 calories, and is a great substitute for sausage and/ or bacon, which have higher fat and calories. it has about 15 grams of protein and about 4 grams of fat."

Besides fresh fruit is better for you than any other breakfast food I can think of! Please post any other breakfast ideas you might have! Thanks!"
kathleen said: "Hello Everyone-
I am new to the forum, but have been looking in for a while. I thought this breakfast thread would be a good part for me to jump in. I have lost 100 pounds since I have started my plan and it has been amazing -- most importantly I have kept it off.
I use to hate eating breakfast and I would always skip it, which as many of you know, will end up working against you and your weight loss efforts. So what I did was a couple things to eat in the morning. Like many I was not very hungry when I wake up so it was like I was forcing myself to eat early on. But the things I stuck to was oatmeal, smoothies (be careful what you put in obviously) and egg whites as well. Because I was not very hungry, I had to start small and get myself used to eating breakfast. What I did was take 12 eggs and hard boil them in advance, and then put them in the fridge. Then in the morning upon waking, I would go to the fridge and have like 4 egg whites. This gradually got my body programmed to eat, and at the same time egg whites are high in protein, low in sodium and easy and quick. I came to find that as time went I actually found myself hungry in the morning and then I went to things like oatmeal with fruit, egg white omlettes, cereals like shredded wheat, cinnamin frosted wheat , etc(anything that was low in sodium and high in fiber)
O often times now also blend up a smoothie as ou can find all inds of things to put in there that are good for you and what you are trying to accomplish -- you literally can create a smoothie to whatever you want it to be.
But these are some things I did, and if this can help anyone, then I am glad to help. :)"

It's a dessert topping no it's a floor wax. I think I rather use soy as car fuel! 10 articles will say it's good for you and the next ten will say it's killing you."
leahsd said: "My fav breakfast is a half cup of Granola with Flax seed (available in health food stores, pre packed, or at my store they have it in the lose bins). Its a very filling granola, with out being high cal. Flax seed provides Omega 3s (good for people who don't like fish). This granola is really popular in our house, my hubby loves to snack on it.
I have that with a cup of "enhanced" soy milk (more vitamins, and more omega 3), and a half of banana.
This combo is quick and easy (I don't have time to cook in the morning), filling, gives you a dose of "good fat," complex carbs, and protein. Also gives me a potassium burst after my morning exercise routine.
The combo will run you about 210 cals, 6 grams fat, 45 grams carb, 8 protein."

Thanks for that breakfast tip. I know that that scenario is all to familiar. I know that fruits are the best in the morning, but sweet things in the morning aren't really what I like to eat. Maybe if I tried a version of what you did, slowly getting yourself to eat in the mornings, I could get myself to eat fruit. Develope a taste for it in the mornings and all.
Welcome. :D"

I eat Special K on a daily basis. As in I have it everyday for breakfast;well almost daily. I am new to breakfast. I have lost 10 pounds in a week. I eat healthy as much as I can. Special K gives me energy for the day and with 1% milk comes out to like 160 calories. I am fine with that because I stay within my daily caloric needs. I occasionaly eat Cheerios as an alternative. I Special K with 1% milk is a good source of protein and carbs. Not all carbs are bad...anyways I don't think I am wrong but I was under the assumption Special K is good for you. Better than not eating breakfast anyways. Besides I cannot eat eggs..."

Heather said: "That sounds like a pretty good recipe. I'll have to give that a try.
I imagine you could probably use just about any fruit that you want?
(Like pineapples, melons or blueberries)"
Heather said: "Thanks for those suggestions and Welcome to Featherish! Glad that you decided to join in.
V*8 is a pretty good early morning drink. Nothing like drinking vegetables!"
Heather said: "I haven't tried the spicy kind yet. I always put some pepper in the regular kind, though."
Heather said: "An old time favorite.
A bowl of Total cereal with sliced bananas, a bit of soy milk, a sprinkle of splenda and a glass of fortified OJ!"
Heather said: "Strawberries are great additions, too."
Elaine said: "I found some English Muffins that are made from whole wheat. They are pretty tasty with some strawberry preserves.
I like bananas and oatmeal, too."
Elaine said: "Canadian bacon is one of the best breakfast meats you can have.
It is very low in calories and fat, but is still tasty as a replacement for breakfast meats like bacon or sausage."

cvalh said: "There are plenty of whole-grain, good for you cereals in the regular cereal aisle. You just have to know what to look for. Yes, the nutritional sections have good cereals, but you don't HAVE to buy that stuff to be eating healthy."
UniqueMystique said: "Omelettes are great too....fill them with fresh veggies instead of fatty breakfast meats. I love them with mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers. Yum!"

Razor said: "I do!
I drink a EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control shake every morning. They have new coffee house flavors that are awesome. Especially if you like those iced coffee drinks.
Also I have always been a fan of cereal. Kashi GoLean is awesome. High in protein and fiber."
Razor said: "
what about special K is that good has anyone tried it??
Special K tastes great, but pretty much anything you find in the regular cereal isle is crap. These cereals are loaded with sugar as well as enriched flour. Both should just be called poison. Of course it's ok in moderation but should not be an everday breakfast choice. An ideal breakfast will consist of a good amount of protein (eggs, cottage cheese, lean meat, or a shake) a moderate amount of carbs (small fruit, WHOLE grain bread, whole grain, small fat free (fruit sweetened) yogurt, etc) and a small amount of UN-FAT (I usually get this by frying my egg up in a tad bit of Canola oil) If you must have cereal then the best choice will be found in the nutritional or whole food section of the grocery store. Check the facts! I eat Kashi GoLean and it taste great and has about 12g of protein and about 11g of fiber."
Razor said: "Hi Cvahl!
Hmm maybe you are right and I just never have come across one. Can you name a couple for me? ......."
Razor said: "I did a sampling of what I would think is healthy by looking down the cereal isle and this is what I came up with. Mind you I picked Kelloggs because they are the most well known. I also only sampled the cereals I think would be healthy by looking at the box

If anyone knows about this will you let me know please?)

Kashi GoLean all natural cereal-140 calories (6g of sugar)
INGREDIENTS: Soy grits, Kashi Seven Whole Grains and Sesame™ (hard red winter wheat, long grain brown rice, whole grain oats, barley, triticale, (good stuff )(rye, buckwheat, sesame seeds), evaporated cane juice syrup, corn meal, corn flour, soy protein, wheat bran, oat fiber, corn bran, honey, evaporated cane juice, natural flavors, calcium carbonate, salt, annatto color. <--- Okay I know a lot of you are saying well this cereal has sugar! Yes it does, but if you look at the ingredients sugar is not listed anywhere. It is naturally occuring sugar and not refined white sugar that is usually added to commercial cereals. Also this cereal is usually not found in the regular cereal isle. If anyone has another cereal that you may know of then post it and we will look it up. Maybe there are some new ones out there because I have not walked through the cereal isle in 2 years :)
Also forgive me if some of this formatting does go array. This took forever."
Razor said: "Yes of course eating something is always better than not eating anything. All I said was that most of the cereal on the regular isle is crap. If you lost 10 lbs on Special K then keep eating it. I just said that it was not an ideal breakfast. Tell me this please, what is it about Special K that gives you energy over something else for breakfast? May I ask why you can't eat eggs?"
theirmom said: "I love Breakfast... But I know now I can't eat what I use too (eggs, bacon, ect...) I really love cream of wheat with wheat germ and splenda, fruit, and skim milk...then I east whole wheat toast or english muffin with fruit, if I'm in a hurry also have to have my coffee!! Need my coffee!!!"
cyn said: "I am new here and I had to check out this thread. I know eating breakfast is very important but unfortunately that is one of my "old way of living" habits that is very hard to break. I am trying to eat healthy but it very hard to eat in the morning when I dont feel hungry. I have thought about drinking a health shake instead of trying to eat to get myself on the right foot daily. Does anyone else do this?"
