medications to lose weight

I have lost the weight with: excercise, diet changes and regular doctor and nutritionalist visits. I don't believe in taking pills to lose weight nor quick fix operations. I have seen on here some posts in reguards to taking pills, I don't agree with that. I feel that with determination and hard work that very overweight people can get to their ideal weight and be healthy both at the same time. It is possible to lose weight ideally without any medications. It is always good to consult a doctor whenever taking any medication not perscribed to you. I believe in a balanced diet, adequate sleep, excercise and a good doctor and gym instructor and that it will help you in the long run.[/size]"

I believe losing weight and getting active is the best and healthiest thing that a person can do if they are overweight. I'm not going to judge someone on how they get there because it just might be saving their llife. If they are using pills or surgeries as a quick fix.....then they are in for a rude awakening. There has to be a lifestyle change in order to keep the weight off. Being active keeps us healthy."

In some cases it may be necessary for them to use a prescribed medication to drop the weight in order to become able to exercise. In other cases....their conditions may be life threatening and the weight needs to come of faster than others. Now....having said that. I am taking a prescription diet aide and am currently under doctor's supervision. I have numerous health reasons and genetic reasons as to why I need the weight off....are they life threatening? No, not currently.....but they will be if I don't rid myself of the weight and stay active. The medication that I am taking is not one that expands and fills the stomach up to make one feel full. I am taking one that works on the chemicals in the brain. I'm eating less and my stomach is actually shrinking because of it. It wouldn't if I took something that had a 'filler' in it. I realize that I have to eat right and exercise every day in order to keep my weight under control....and I do. This is not a quick fix for me as I'm not really losing weight any faster than any others on this site. I've lost about 30 pounds since January 18th. Averaged...that's about 2 1/2 pounds per week. I don't believe that this is the way for everyone. Nor would I try and convince someone to try this method. Everyone is completely different. Their bodies are different. Their metabolisms are different. Their body compositions are different. I just don't think that anyone should judge another for how they are losing weight. If people are worried about how they are going about their weight loss...then they should post the facts and allow the person to make an educated decision about what they are doing."
