Leah20 said: "I noticed you live in Oregon... Me and my fiance are plainning on spending a few weeks there in the summer, but I haven't been since I was young, and he has never been.
Just wondering if you could give us some insight on places to see - we're not really sure where to go.
I've been doing some reading about some of the coastal towns and they all sound so nice!
Thanks
Leah"

Those all sound like great places to go. You definatley helped us decide some of the places we want to go. It's hard when you're just looking at a map and you have no idea what each place is about.
I think we will probably go out to vancouver island and then down thru portland and over to the coast. I love the shopping down there, TJ Maxx is like heaven for me. We have a store called "Winners" up here that is kind of like that, but way higher prices and not as nice of stuff.
Anyways, thankyou very much for the advice..
:)"

Well, lots of coastal towns are fun. Newport has the most attractions that I've been to, their claim to fame right now is the Oregon Coast Aquarium (where Keiko used to be). There is also Ripley's Believe or Not and The Undersea Gardens. (Those are especially fun if you have kids with you). Bandon is a really pretty town on the Souther Oregon coast. There are a lot of pretty shops and cute restaurants. There is a state park every couple of miles or so on Hwy 101, I've been to many nice once around the Lincoln City and Depoe Bay area (central coast). Tillamook is fun and so is Astoria (there should be a lot of Lewis and Clark stuff going on there right now). They are on the North Coast.
In Portland, tons of shopping! There is also OMSI (a cool science museum) and the Oregon Zoo. East of portland, in the Columbia Gorge, there are more parks and lots of water sports always going on. Multnomah Falls is a really pretty place (and a good little hike). In Baker City, there is the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center.
In Central Oregon, there are the John Day fossil beds, and BEND. Bend is the hot spot. There is a lava lands park there and Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Newberry is a really nice park with tons of hiking, fishing, and places to camp and picnic.
In Southern Oregon, there is Jasonville, a cute little tourist trap with fun walking tours. It is an old mining town. Ashland has the Shakespeare Festival if you come at the right time. There some interesting cave in that areas too. In the Grants Pass area (I think) there is a wildlife safari, where the animals roam around and you stay in the car to watch.
Crater Lake (in the Southern Cascades) is awesome. Farther north is Mount Hood and Mt. Bachelor (the two most visitor friendly mountains). More hiking, mountain biking, and fishing in the Northern Cascades.
Salem is the capitol. East of Salem is the Oregon Gardens (which is just beautiful, lots of walking and taking pictures) and also Silver Falls State Park with an awesome 10 mile hike) In the rest of the Willamette Valley, there are lots of vineyards you can visit (and sample). Last, of course, you can tour Western Oregon University in Monmouth...and maybe you'll bump into me. :)"

Added benefit for vacationers here...no sales tax. :)"
