peanut butter.

Heather said: "Hello and welcome! I guess the good thing is that you'd rather binge on peanut butter over a lot of other things that you could binge on. Like the others said, maybe a natural peanut butter that doesn't contain sugar and stuff might be a healthier alternative for you?"

If you really want to have healthy peanut butter, get the all natural kind with no added sugar (it usually comes in the refrigerated section of the store and you have to stir it up before you eat it because it can separate). Or you could try making your own. Just put peanuts in the blender and blend it for a while with a little oil."

spectrachic311 said: "Back before I got healthy, one of my FAVORITE things to do was sit in front of the TV with a jar of PB, a spoon, and a bag of either chocolate chips or M&Ms. I'd get a spoonful of PB, dunk it in the chocolate, and then eat it straight up. Oh, man, was that ever naughty!!! I had to give up PB entirely when I FIRST started losing weight because of that temptation, but now I do eat a lot of nuts again. I just had to learn to eat them in moderation. (and NOT with tons of candy/chocolate with them!)."

I have not had that in YEARS but that stuff is so darn tasty! But, I always have a spoon of peanut butter or a handful of nuts a day. It is a good source of fat if comsumed in moderation. I'd take the advice of the ladies and not buy it for a while if you can't control the binge."

DBrew said: "I am the same way with nuts and nut butters. You will probably just have to replace something else with those calories. I buy the natural reduced fat kind and I eat it almost every day. Your body probably needs soemthing that is in the PB. You might have some deficiency that it is fulfilling. That is why I think I crave nuts. They are high in minerals that I must not get elsewhere."

DBrew said: "that is good advice. if you dont have it, then you can not eat it! I always try to put it in a sandwich with fruit so I feel fuller. It is dangerous to be alone with a jar and a spoon. I have definatley gotten into trouble that way."

DBrew said: "It is sad, but true."

DBrew said: "It does make a person really thirsty, Mahesh. I never came close to choking but I always had a drink right by my PB jar. I actually had a PB binge this week and it has contributed to some ongoing weight gain. Oh PB, I wish you were not so delightful!"

I have a similar problem with chocolate. Here's what I do...... have a small piece each day and count it into my calorie count. I keep the chocolate wrapped in a brown paper bag in the fridge so everything I open the fridge door I don't see it. I enjoy the chocolate each day...... and I just keep reminding myself that I can have some more tomorrow. It's hard but the whole weight loss journey is hard. Let us know how you are going!!!"

lakelady said: "I'm like you emily. LOVE the peanut butter. I can eat a whole jar with a spoon. I don't know what to tell you. If you just can't control the craving, or stop after a little, don't buy any for a while."
