CaffeineCaffeine

Sugar is a drug as well. Probably one of the most readily available and tasty ones out there."

Some of those children may be ADHD and it's a proven fact that allowing a child to drink coffee helps keep their hyperactivity under control. Often times they can avoid having to take medications if they are allowed to consume coffee."
UniqueMystique said: "Yeah...most people don't realize that the drugs used to treat ADHD are actually 'speed'. Speed has an opposite effect on those that have this disorder. I know that if my children were diagnosed with it...I'd sure give caffeine and diet a try before agreeing to medications."
Holly said: "Those articles were interesting. I can't believe (although I know it's true!) that some parents let their kids drink coffee. When I say kids, I mean middle school and younger (I know once they're in high school and have their own money there are a lot worse things they could be doing than hanging out at the coffee shop). I guess kids (like adults) are drawn to the sugary, high fat mochas and lattes.
I actually read an article over the summer about parents giving their kids a couple of dollars to buy breakfast at school and on a regular basis the kid would stop by the coffee hut and get a mocha of some sort...and that's it. The reporter was investigating this because some kids were doing poorly in their morning classes (this was middle school).
That all said, I'm a coffee drinker, but I try to have about 2 cups (or mugs rather) a day and I just add a little skim milk. I haven't even tried to give it up. I guess I feel it is my last freebie. You have to watch calories, fat, carbs, protein, and sodium. Then, you have to make sure you get enough exercise and drink plenty of water while not eating a whole bag of popcorn in front of the TV. Really, it can be a pain. So, I love my coffee - my last outlet. :)"
Holly said: "If that is the special case, I think coffee is a good idea (minus the cream and sugar). I think it's great when natural remedies (as opposed to more pills) can be used to solve problems."

It refers to caffeine as a drug. I never really thought of it that way, but yesterday I had decided to cut out caffeinated soda.
Thought some might find the article interesting, so i'm sharing."

I was drinking about a 2 liter of diet coke everyday along with a gallon of water. that much diet soda is way to much. I changed to 1 20oz caffeine free diet coke and 1 gallon of water. I was much more comfortable and happy since i've been doing this.
Caffeine does have it's uses. works really well on headaches, and i would much rather try something like caffeine to help treat something than i would drugs."
