Heather said: "Unique.. Sorry to hear that you're having computer problems and hope that you get them resolved soon. I'll try to 'hold down the fort' while you're away! ;)"

Heather said: "Ouch! Is there anything besides ice that help heal a broken nose?"

UniqueMystique said: "I'll be back on when I get it back from the shop!"

UniqueMystique said: "Well....I'm taking it in tomorrow and they estimate about a week and a half. I'm borrowing my friend's laptop when she's not on it!!!! On the bright side....I'm getting some things done. I decided that I was sick of cleaning carpets so my friend and I are ripping it all out! I'm just gonna paint the concrete for the time being!!!! So far we've got the hallway, the dining room, and the living room!!!"

UniqueMystique said: "Oh....forgot to mention that my youngest busted my nose yesterday morning. It's all swollen and kinda black. I bawled....and I rarely cry!!! It freaking hurt!!!! She felt so bad but it was an accident. We were playing on the bed with the puppy and she accidentally head butted me. :("

UniqueMystique said: "Well....I got the computer to the shop yesterday so hopefully they'll be quick about it. My nose is still a bit swollen. The end of it is numb and I keep having weird headaches. They don't last long but it travels all over the front of my head. I'm figureing that the blow caught a nerve or something since my nose was jammed upwards. If I keep having the headaches I guess I'll go to the doc but really....what can the doc do????:banghead:"

UniqueMystique said: "Still no 'puter!!!! :sad010: I'm going crazy!!!!!"

UniqueMystique said: "I should have my computer up by Monday. :) They had problems at the place that was fixing it. Lightening struck their stuff and they had a power outage for about 4 days so it took longer than they expected...plus they were swamped with repairs. My nose is better. I have problems when the weather is wet though....sinus cavities in my forhead hurt. Hopefully that will remedy itself with time. :D"

UniqueMystique said: "Nah...they could stay home all the time. They don't bother me too much. ;) My youngest is ready to go back....my oldest isn't ready for summer to be over yet. Hehehehe!!!! They go back on the 27th. The youngest is attending a cheer camp at her school starting tomorrow."

spectrachic311 said: "Hope your computer problems get fixed soon. I will soon be having to send my computer to "computer heaven"...it's almost 5 years old and it's running out of memory. See you on here when you get it back!"

spectrachic311 said: "UM--Oh man! I'm sorry to hear about your nose!! That has got to hurt like crazy. I hope you feel better soon :) I've never had a broken bone, but I did get hit in the head with a heavy toy hammer by my little brother when I was 6 or so (to be fair, he was only a year old). It made quite the goose bump. As far as my computer goes...all the memory slots to expand the RAM are full and the hard drive is almost full as well. The processor is crap, so that's got to be a big factor. Right now, we use it as our back up computer...we have a new laptop that is MUCH faster. I will take your advice, HDales....I should turn it off more. That is probably a pretty big factor. I have disabled most programs that auto-boot when the computer does and that helped a bit. I defragged the hard drive and tried to clear out the hard drive as well as I could. I bet you'd never believe my husband is a computer file pack rat as well as a junk pack rat, LOL. I'm going to burn a bunch of files to CD and then take them off the computer...that may help a little too."

xlilphishx said: "When a cpmputer craps out, it is like the whole world stops. Hope you get it back soon :)"

GreenEyes said: "I hope that you get your computer fixed and up and running soon UM! I also hope that your nose feels better soon. I've knocked my nose and it was the worst pain that I have ever felt and I have a very high pain tolerance."

DBrew said: "I thought you HAD been off lately. I have not noticed you posting too much. i know everyone is busy and it is summer so that must be why. Well talk to you soon!"

DBrew said: "Awwwwww, no geek stuff here, but lots of sympathy. I hope you pain will subside as quickly as possible. Until then, milk it for all it is worth(but, dont make your daughter feel guilty. I know you wont.) When my son used to head but me, I know it was really painful. And I NEVER broke anything. You poor baby!:sad010:"

HDales said: "ahem.. ahem *clears throat* Time for a little geek time everyone!! This is for Spectra in hopes it helps her slow computer.. She wrote that her computer is - "almost 5 years old and it's running out of memory." RAM is commonly referred to as the "memory" of a computer. There are other types but this is the one most commonly talked about. RAM stands for Random Access Memory and is a temporary storage area for the CPU(which is the computers "brain"). Before you run a program it is loaded into the memory so that the CPU can directly access it. It is a volitile storage area which means each time you shut off your computer it is cleared out & emptied (which is why leaving your comp on for days/weeks at a go is not the greatest idea) The amount of RAM you have in your comp might not be the problem. It could be on the start up of your computer there are too many things being loaded into the RAM. Or you have to many programs open. Or your harddrive could be mostly full which as well would make the computer slower. Or it could be virus's or spyware or anything like that. Or your computer hasn't been turned off for a long time (which would mean the RAM is never cleared out) So if you or your hubby or any of your friends are a little computer savvy get them to check these things: - what is being loaded at start up & how many of those things you stop from being loaded - How much stuff is on your HD. You might want to think about clearing out any old stuff - Any programs that are not needed - Spyware or virus's (two great (and free) tools for that are spybot & adaware) - start turning your computer off every night If those things are looked after then it should significantly increase your computers performance. One other thing I will mention is that if you are running windows xp you need at least 512 RAM in it to run it properly. And that concludes my geek lesson of the day! Cheerio!!"

HDales said: "Unique sorry to hear about that painful accident.. I hope you feel better soon!! I've never broken anything, not a bone or a nose.. Heck I have never even had a nose bleed. Not even when I was in volleyball and would get the ball spiked right into my face. Not a drop of blood.. just tears because I am a wimp. lol hope you are better soon!!"

Diamond said: "((hopes your computer is fixed soon!))"

Diamond said: "Your computer must REALLY be busted! Either that or the repairmen are really overloaded with work, UniqueMystique. :)"

Diamond said: "It's good to see you back and hoe that your nose and sinuses feel better. Are you ready to send your daughters back to school?"

lakelady said: "Sorry unique:sad010: . Did you take it to the geek squad? Hope they hurry, we miss you. What if an evil spammer shows up? We'll be DEFENSELESS!!!"

lakelady said: "
I will soon be having to send my computer to "computer heaven"...it's almost 5 years old and it's running out of memory.
Brittany, ever heard of memory expansion cards? There's life in the old thing yet, although, I'll admit, you can get a shiny new computer for really excellent prices these days. About the only things though."

lakelady said: "Oh GOD Unique! I'm SO, SO, SORRY!:sad010: When I was 15 my two-year-old cousin broke my nose with a lucky throw of a golfball while I was babysitting him. I nearly passed out, the pain was excruciating and I remember it vividly! It's gotta be even worse when it's a hard head-sized object!!! Oh!, I hope you got good drugs! ;)"

lakelady said: "Awww, Unique! I'd rather move back into a cave and cook over an open fire (like when I was a kid, according to MY kids  ), than be without my computer! Hope you get it back soon! We MISS you!!!!"

DrCOOL959 said: "Hdales didn't mention it in her geek thing, So I'll add to it =P Don't forget to defragment your hard disk drive(s) folks! As files are deleted/and new ones stored to the hard disk drive, the drive becomes fragmented. Lets use for example a physical folder in your everyday REAL lives. Lets say this folder holds all your tax information since you've been working. If you want to see all that information it would be real nice to go to one spot to get it all right? But what if you had to go upstairs to get the 2002 taxes, downstairs for 2003 taxes, and behind the toliet for 2004 taxes. Be a pain in the ass! That is how your hdd feels when it is fragmented. Instead of being able to read data from one place on the hard disk. The read/write head has to grind back and forth. (That sweet sweet sound you hear when first running a program, or opening up a file. is mainly the read/write head moving around in the hard disk drive. For those interested but don't know how: Start>Program Files/all programs (XP)>Accessories>System Tools>Disk Defragmenter Click on a Hard drive ("C:\,....D:\...whatever) Click Analyze, it will take a second and let you know if you need to defrag your hard drive or not. If you need to, it will recommend that you procede, click Defragment and go to sleep because it will take a while. Especially if you haven't ran one in a while."
