I did not have to pay for anything except film for his camera and that was 50$. A good photographer can be right next door, ask around."
Heather said: "When my friend got married, she bought a bunch of disposable cameras and put one on each table at her reception. Guests were encouraged to take candid photos with them. She ended up with a lot of really good collection of pictures of her reception.
Just thought I'd pass the idea along."
Heather said: "It is a good way to get pictures of everyone that was in attendance.
They got funnier after the crowd hit the tap!"
Heather said: "I just invested in a really nice Sony Cyber-Shot camera.
You can take video and pictures. We bought a photo printer to go along with it. No need for developing pictures anymore! You can download them to your computer or straight to the printer (from memory stick)
It is very cool."

UniqueMystique said: "My stepfather took our pictures. He was a photographer once upon a time and his main jobs were photographing weddings. The photos were his gift to us. :) So I've no idea what they cost."
UniqueMystique said: "Yep...I've been to weddings where they did that, Snap. Everyone always says that they get the best pictures that way."
UniqueMystique said: "I have that same camera! I liked it a lot until we bought out daughter a camera for her birthday last year. Her's is so cool. Fuji FinePix S3000. I just thought the pictures with my Sony were clear....these are phenomenal. Bet you can guess who's camera I use all the time now. ;) I also just purchased an HP photo printer. Love it!!!!!!"

I think she's planning on spending $1600 or so for our pictures next month (wow, it's coming up faster than I think!). It includes a lot of informal pictures taken before the ceremony, outdoor shots at our reception place, and formal pictures. He does do a wonderful job, so I guess it's worth it. We decided to put a big part of the wedding budget towards the pictures because they are a permanent memory of the big day :) So I personally think $800 is probably about right. BTW Holly, when are you getting married? :)"

Then when we develop them, we'll have pictures from a bunch of different perspectives. I went to a wedding like that...it was so fun. Also we wanted to make a website for people to send us digital pics they might have taken."
theirmom said: "Congradulations to all of you getting married...At my wedding (long ago) the best pictures we got where when we did not pay attention to the camera..like the candid of us talking between the formal pics. and fliting with each other at the reception...Hope that helps
:)"
Holly said: "This is an odd question, but I think there are other ladies (and perhaps gentlemen) on this forum that are either engaged or have recently gotten married. If you don't mind saying, how much money did you spend on a photographer and were you happy or not with the results.
This is one of the few large expenses my fiance and I are paying for and we are wondering if $800 is a reasonable amount, or if we should keeping digging for a better deal. $800 would be for formal pictures and probably about 2 hours or so during the reception. Pictures during the ceremony are not allowed.
Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom. ;)"
Holly said: "Yes, you are right. I'm going to have one of my bridesmaid's older brothers take formal pictures for a low price (not determined quite yet). Also, my step sister is going to take pictures for us as her gift.
I bought a bunch of disposable cameras today so that several of us can capture more candid moments during the reception (and beforehand while we're all getting ready).
I think I got one of my things done and checked off of my "to do" list today. :D"
Holly said: "August 20th is my big day!
I've got plenty of time yet, but I'm getting as much done early as possible. I actually waited a little too long on photographers, many were already booked months ago.
I think all of my big purchases are done now...I hope. ;)"
Holly said: "A website is a great idea!
A lot of people have to take off right after the wedding and you don't get to see the pictures they taken on their personal cameras. I'll have to ask my fiance about taking over that project...he's more technologically inclined than I am. :)"
