I guess a lot of celebrities do it...Beyonce Knowles did it to get skinnier for "Dreamgirls", but it's so dangerous. If you do want to do a fast to "detox", I'd recommend only doing one for maybe 24-48 hours. Any more than that and you'll start having some problems.

I HAVE to have at least1250 cals or I feel terrible and depressed and I can not think straight. I cant imagine being on one of those for a whole month! Yikes!"

In addition, I think it highlights the MYTHS about losing weight that are everywhere in our society. When I started losing weight I knew NOTHING about weight loss and if someone would have told me that a detox was the way to do it - I would have believed them. I feel sorry for the people that do do it over a long period of time becuase they are misinformed and desperate to lose weight!
Would doing that detox thing mess with the chemicals in your brain? Unknow cause an imbalance? Hang on ..... I am going to read the article might be something in there!
Thanks for the article...... I am going to read it now:)"

I have gone on what I call a 24 hour detox where I drink nothing but water. hubby points out that by the time I add the time spent sleeping the night before I start, it's more like 30 hours. I do that once in a while when I feel sluggish and generally yucky. Maybe 3 or four times a year."

Beyonce Knowles attributed her 20-pound weight loss for the movie "Dreamgirls" to the Master Cleanse — a starvation diet whose adherents swallow nothing but a concoction of lemon juice mixed with maple syrup, water and cayenne pepper, as well as salt water and a laxative tea for 10 days.

Gah. First off, why are people going to Beyonce for health advice?
Second, with that diet, I bet she did lose 20 pounds.
She ate no solid food, lived off of maple sugar, and was eating cayenne pepper and laxatives. The results are not hard to imagine, although you might not want to dwell on it for too long.
Essentially she emptied her intestines out to get a slimmer waist. She didn't lose any real weight.

This post looks a bit like an advertisement, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt.
Colon cleansing products are another scam. The "mucoid plaque" that they supposedly cleanse you of is actually something that your body produces in response to ingesting the colon cleansing product. Doctors who perform autopsies have never found any evidence of mucoid plaque in a human being.
So you're eating something that makes you have really gross, ropey bowel movements. And they claim that this is toxins and evil spirits leaving your body. In truth, it's the colon cleansing product leaving your body.
Avoid these products and have some oat bran instead.
