leg painleg pain

Do you get the pain more in your knees or your thighs? I know that when I was heavier, I would get sore knees if I did something strenuous (like climbing stairs). Once I lost some weight and became more active, the pain went away.
I guess I would just let you know that if the pain is sharp/shooting and runs down your legs, it could be a nerve pain that your doctor should check out."

it is the same kind of pain i got so bad when i was little and was told it is growing pains...i used to wake up crying bc the pain was so bad when i was little
anyone ever get this kind of pain or know what it is?"
naynay said: "it doesn't feel like the pain is in my muscles....i have always gotten the pain here and there even when i was 180lbs but it is less when i am lighter
i guess i don't ever worry about it bc i have had it off and on for as long as i can remember...when i was 180lbs and it was doing it I told the dr...he felt my legs and just said they seem fine to him and that was all so i never said anything about it again
the pain usually starts in the evening and is gone when i get back up as long as i slept long enough"

klynnfosh said: "I would say it could be muscle pain, if it is than Advil, Motrin, would help but if you are breast feeding you need to check with your doctor for what you can take. Heat might also help. If it is nerve pain it will be a terrible pain and it does not have to travel down the leg, it can be in one spot. I for one can tell you from experience. I had this for the first time when I was 23, and it was from my back a pinched nerve and my only pain was in my calf. I had the same pain return years later and ended up having back surgery in 2000. I can tell you that anything you take does not help and that only getting off the leg sometimes will give relief. If the pain last more than a week, check with your doctor."

lakelady said: "naynay, You've been more active of late. Could it just be normal muscle ache from exercise? You KNOW I'm very active, but last summer we went to disneyworld and hit 4 of the parks on the first day and MY legs hurt the next day....just from walking.
Another thing I think of is this. I had a period shortly after C was born where my legs hurt so badly that I went to the doctor. It turned out it was a potassium deficiency causing the cramping. I was nursing and drinking a LOT of water. An OTC supplement took care of the problem. I hope you feel better. Nothing like riding herd on two kids when you're in pain!
OH, p.s. The supplement I took for leg cramps was potassium AND magnesium, I just remembered. Think you can get the same thing from a couple of bananas!"
lakelady said: "^^^^^
yeah, that! Leave it to most of us to overlook the OBVIOUS!"
lakelady said: "Seriously naynay, it sounds like your garden variety nocturnal leg cramps. Try a magnesium/potassium supplement or eat a banana before bed. Then there's always doctor Gott's bar of soap. (I'm not making this up) Dr. Gott is a syndicated medical dr. who recommends putting a bar of soap under your bottom sheet at night to stop leg cramps. Everyone SWEARS it works, and no one knows why. Just passing along info, never tried it. I'll se if I can find a link.
ok, here's one;

Do you get a lot of cramping in your calf and feet? if so i get it checked out by your docter.
