Herb Garden!!Herb Garden!!

I planted the seeds yesterday and in 2 weeks I should have some herbs. I'm so excited!! I love fresh basil particularly. And the best part is, I can transplant them to my new garden when we move, so I can have MORE herbs.
Using herbs in your cooking can help reduce the amount of salt you use and they really wake up a lot of different dishes."

I know the trick with mint though...plant the entire pot in the ground so the roots can't take over everything in sight. Catnip is the same way...we tried planting that once too.
I think I'll plant oregano when we move to add on to my little garden. I LOVE oregano. I think I'll do Mexican oregano though...I like it a lot more. I also want to do lemongrass, but I'm not sure if it'll grow. Oh, and for sure I'm planting dill...I LOVE dill."

I'm going absolutely stircrazy and I'm sick of being cold. This weekend it's supposed to be in the 40-50s and hopefully some of this stupid snow will melt. Plus, the days are getting nice and long so my plants might actually grow."

Has anyone ever planted Lemon Balm? It smells so good and it's really good in iced teas in the summer. I have tons of seeds and can't wait to plant them.
I'm so excited that it's almost Spring! Fresh flowers, green grass and sun!"

One time I bought fresh parsley for a soup and it was REALLY strong in comparisson to the kind in a bottle. I should have used way less. Has anyone else had this experience with herbs?
I like Basil in pasta sauce, veggie sautes, tofu dishes, pizza..... again, slippery, slippery slope!"

I have a 'kitchen garden' just off the kitchen deck. I grow (really) parsley, sage, rosemary, and thyme (just had to put those first), basil, lemon thyme, lavender, dill, (my favorite) marjoram, mint and, unfortunately, chives. DON'T ever plant chives! They'll take over your yard. (so will mint but at least IT smells good!)"

Salsa!, bean dip..... w/salty corn chips....
You see how one thing leads to another the old Slippery slope. =)"

The darn strawberries didn't have any seeds so I transplanted this little bitty tree I got around christmas. He is going to be happy in his new home, his roots were all wrapped up."
