When I was going to a doctor fro weight loss in 2005 I had the same problem. It concerned me and I asked the doctor about it. She told me that it was more likely a vitamin C deficiency rather than an iron deficiency. She told me to up my vitamin C with foods and supplements. I did and they slowly stopped occuring unless I really banged myself.

However, for years (now that I look back on it, particularly the "dieting" years) I was just notorious for bruising all the time. Then it seemed as if the excessive, easy brusing sorta disapeared. I'm still prone to getting a bruise if I do anything to cause one...but now all of a sudden (note: about a month into dieting again) I'm getting the unexplained brusies in addition to any expected ones. You know the, holy cow, look at that bruise on my leg, I don't remember hitting it on anything bruise....
It's not a HUGE heath concern, other than sorta annoying and not particularly aesthetically pleasing. But I've heard before that a lack of iron can cause bruising? Am I making this up? :whacky011:
And is it possible if that is a cause, that my lower caloric intake (and consequently lower iron intake) whenever I'm dieting, could lead to the bruising? AND if so...anything I can do about it? Iron supplement?
Anyone have any experience with this?"
