Anyway, I don't remember gaining weight. In fact, I think lack of appetite was a side effect (that I didn't have!). My biggest problem was getting off of it. I had to wean myself off very slowly over a period of months. I was literally sick going off of it. I was throwing up, had shakes, dizzy spells, headaches...It was miserable and every day. I researched the net and found that this was very common. When I talked to my doctor about it said he too had heard of people having trouble getting off of it easily."

Lets see my biggest wait gain on an anitdepressent was roughly 25Lbs, that was in my couch patatoe stage. However when ever I started one in my active stage I gained about 5-7lbs and for the most part I found it pretty easy to lose. The key though is to be active and not to bindge when feeling down.
As a person who has been struggling with weight and Deprresion for many years, I know it is a difficult battle and at times it seems like they can effect eachother soo much. A person can get deprressed about there weight, and when a person is depressed they tend to be less active and eat more which effects weight. My personal approach it to treat them both sepratly.
Well I hope I answered your question"

I was on Prozac for a month and stopped taking it because Prozac it made feel like I was drifting through life and everything was duller than it should have been.
Sometimes you just have to get mad and deal with it."

Im just wondering if anyone has information on weight gain caused by anti depressants.
Any advise / experience on how to avoid / minimise the weight gain etc....
thanks - lothuial"
lothuial said: "Thanks for the info fallen, your story is similar to mine i guess, i had to take antidepressants about 8 years ago and i went from about 125 lbs to 200lbs in the space of a year (im sure there was more factors for the gain than the tablets but they certainly didnt help!)
I have lost 40 lbs over the past few months and finally getting the weight sorted, but I have had a little relapse - which means tablets for a few months, and I do not want to gain the weight straight back.
I suppose Im more prepared now for what could happen and I will make sure I am watching the scales closely!"
