Sweetvirgo said: "Welcome to the forum. You seem to be getting sufficient exercise but you may need to look at your eating habits. Diets don't work - most of them end up starving us and then we overeat because your body is low on fuel and energy. Our bodies have a natural "self-defence" mechanism that they will rely on because of eating inconsistencies. If you're not consuming enough food to maintain your athletic lifestyle, your body will store up on food for later use as energy. Try to balance nutritional meals throughout your day and start by measuring the amounts you actually eat - you might be taking more in than you think or need. (I'm not sure what foods are available in your compound for you to eat or how much of a variety you have available to you). Good luck!"

Are you doing any sort of exercise?"
Heather said: "Weight loss isn't really that complicated.
You have to burn or deficit 3,500 calories to get rid of one pound of ugly fat.
That's why I like to consider it a lifestyle change. Chances are you aren't going to have overnight success, but with daily exercise and a moderate diet you can do it!
..and water helps a lot, too."

Some tips I can give are: drink water, eat fruits and veggies, lean proteins, and get regular exercise. I know the advice is a little generic, but it works! Are you trying to follow a particular plan? Are you incorporating exercise into your daily routine? Nice to meet you!"

lakelady said: "You ARE doing great! That's how you do it too, a slow, steady loss. I know from experience that it's MUCH, MUCH harder to keep off weight that you've lost rapidly than it is to keep off the weight you lost slowly, but steadily. Have you read all the dieting tips that unique has posted in the last few days? They are really great. i printed them off and put them in a little notebook to reference. just re-reading them helps keep me on track."

As other have said, diets don't work. You'll need to change your eating habits for the rest of your life. Eat smaller portions, choose less fatty foods, drink more water, more exercise (you seem to be getting enough), etc.
For many of us, ending up overweight didn't happen overnight. We shouldn't expect to lose it overnight either.

But I know its making me feel better, and I know the pounds will come off, it just takes time. But the longer and harder you work for that pound the longer it will stay off! Don't give up it, member this isnt a 'diet' its a lifestyle change

JasonMinus100Pounds said: "Hang in there!
There are a couple things that come to mind that might explain you loosing 4 pounds quickly and not loosing anything in the last week or so.
Most obvious would be the dreaded plataeu that we all face atleast once during our loss. I find it usually lasts 1-2 weeks and then i drop a noticeable amount of weight seemingly overnight. Some say you can jumpstart your loss past the plateau with one day of eating whatever you want (bad, fatty and/or sugary foods). Apparently it only works if you have been on a strict healthy diet for awhile, though. It is said to shock your system back into its old ways temporarily and it restarts the systems phase.
The other thing that you need to watch for is not eating often enouogh or not enough calories. I don't know how many you have been consuming but its a valid possibility. If you dont eat often enough, or too little, your body will enter what we call 'starvation mode' in which it senses famine. It will automatically hang onto and store more things you eat as FAT. You will even convert non-sugars too fat storage in this mode, so its important to avoid.
I hope some of this will give you some enlightenment on why you have stopped loosing weight. If you already knew alll of this just ignore me and know that I was trying to help :D

SOriTHICKulous said: "Welcome!!! I don't think you could have stumbled across a better support group than this! Well I will tell you what I have been doing thus far that has been working for me.
I COUNT CALORIES!!! Because at the end of the day it's all about the calories right??? I am on a 1200 calorie diet (it works for me). I try to get as much protein in as I can as it will aid in muscle growth and in return fat burning. I try to stay away from processed foods as much as possible...there is hidden everything in processed foods especially sodium. I am an addict to label reading it helps me understand and keep track of what I'm putting in my body and if I really need it. I keep a food journal. I write down everything I put into my face...lol...it all counts. I make sure I'm eating things I actually LIKE...because in the end if you don't like it you won't stick to it...and WATCH OUT because here those pounds you worked so hard to lose come right back!
HTH..."
