Cupcake said: "In a previous post you said something about getting a set of dumbells for toning your abs and that got me interested..... Could explain more of that to me please? How will dumbells tone your abs.? Thanks alot!!"

Cupcake said: "Thanks a lot Razor... :) Those sound like some good exercises. I don't exactly want 6 pack abs... just trimmed and toned ones. Thanks again."

Cupcake said: "Wow they have plastic surgery for everything now!!! Thanks for the insight spectra... I'm just going for a more toned ab area, not 6 packs."

I have very little body fat and some pretty darn ripped abs (which I worked hard to get). But because of the ligament structure in a woman's body, it's harder to get those muscles to look like that. Some people get surgery to have those ligaments shortened; then you can get more ripped looking abs. I think Janet Jackson had it done."

Razor said: "Well I mainly said that to Yum so she would get off the cardio machine and start a strength training regimine so she could lower her total bodyfat, but I think everyone would benefit from a set of dumbells. Mainly because you can work out every body part with a set of dumbells =) You can go to exrx.net and look at more, but here is a couple to start 1. Hold the DB behind your head, lay down and do a crunch keeping the DB behind your head. 2. Lie down on a bench and grasp the DB between your legs with your ankles. Do leg lifts without letting your ankles go below lying level, and without bending your knees. Please remember that although working them out is great, abs are made in the kitchen, and not in the gym. Remember that most women who compete have to get at about 10% bodyfat to have clean abs. Most women also stop menstrating at this point. Just a reminder that to get a good set of abs, you need to reduce your overall bodyfat."
