The following was received from the Salt Lake City (UT) Police Department and it might be useful to those of us who have ever locked our keys in the car!! Opening Vehicles with Keys and Remote Button Locked Inside: For ANYONE who has a car that can be unlocked by the remote button on their key ring, the keys are locked in the car, and the spare keys are at home (and "OnStar" isn't an option), here is an answer to the problem! If someone has access to the spare remote at the owner's home, call them on a cell phone, hold the cell phone about a foot from the car door or from the remote controller antenna, and have the person at home press the unlock button, holding it near the phone. THE CAR WILL UNLOCK! This will save someone from having to drive the keys to your location. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away and, if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for the car, you can unlock the doors (or the trunk, or have the "horn" signal go off, or whatever)!"
