So Confused!So Confused!

I have read a lot of studies that state that running can be hard on your body when you first start out excercising. Leg injuries are fairly high when you run if you aren't physically active allready. It is good to walk fast to some music comparable to running. Anything with cardiovascular movement is just as good. You get less injuries and it is easier on you if you aren't a excercise buff."

This type of training mixes up walking, jogging/running and resistance training at in one seesion. It is kind of fun to do, too."

Last night instead of doing what I usually do (which is jog as much as I can handle in half an hour, where I burn usually 250 Cal) I decided to speed walk quite fast. I ended up burning 275 Cal in 30 mins.
I'm wondering if I should keep doing this, it also wasn't as hard on my legs as the jogging...
I also saw a report on the news that said it is more beneficial for weight loss to work at a lower heart rate for a longer amount of time.
I don't know what's the best thing to do.
I'm also getting little discouraged, I have been doing this for a few weeks now and haven't seen any pounds drop yet...
I'm not gonna stop tho, because I believe this has to be good for me either way.
One more thing, I am on Depo Provera for birth control and I have been for about 3 years. In that time I have put on about 30 pounds. I heard that this drug increases your sensitivity to carbs or something. Just wondering if anyone else had heard anything or had that happen to them."
Razor said: "The birth control does make you gain because in some super power way it makes you sensitive to carbohydrates. It makes you gain a little do to hormones and water retention.
Running 15 minutes = cardio
Walking same distance(notice I said distance and not time) in more time = more fat loss/burn.
Here's the answer from Dr. Dean Ornish, a clinical professor of
medicine at UC San Francisco:
"All things being equal, you will burn more calories by running an
hour than walking an hour. It is true that walking a mile will burn
more calories than running a mile -- although it takes longer to do
so. When you run a mile, you're burning mostly sugar, or
carbohydrates, which is how your body gives you fast energy in bursts.
When you walk a mile, it gives your metabolism time to switch from
burning carbohydrates to burning fat.""
Razor said: "I screwed up! I meant to say that birth control does NOT make you sensitive to carbohydrates."
