I also found http://www.linear-software.com/online.html shows where to measure etc. if you use tape measures and not scales"

My oldest daughter (age 9) came home last week thinking she was fat. A friend of hers was telling her that she only weighed 50 pounds and that my daughter was fat compared to her. I know this little girl doesn't weigh 50 pounds because she was on my cheerleading squad and she weighed in at 65 pounds then. My daughter is about half a foot taller than her (4'9") and weighs 72 pounds. I was able to show her this and 'prove' to her that she was not fat. She was like, "Wow! That's cool, Mom. So-n-so's such a liar!""

Using the calipers, it's a little higher because i have some floppy skin left over from when I was bigger. Weighing underwater is the best method though. It's kind of expensive so I've never had it done."

On that, I'm 34% body fat. (Yikes) On the website posted here, I was 25% body fat. But on other sites I've gone to in the past week, I'll be 17% on one spot, 23% on another. I just don't know what to believe! (Although, I would certainly hope my bathroom scale is inaccurate!) Does one really just need to go to a doctor or to a gym to figure out the most exact number? I've seen people do that under water test on TV, but I'm wondering if that is kind of expensive."

Holly said: "I just found out my church is offering to have a bunch of medical screening done (cholesterol, blood pressure, body fat, etc.) by a doctor for a very low fee on April 9th. I know if might not be 100% accurate, but at least having a medical professional tell me my body fat would make me feel a little more confident about the number. Also, April 9th is my Birthday, I think it would be nice to know where I stand after the first 24 years."

Qian said: "Probably the best thing to do is have a physician or dietician calculate it for you. Everyother place is taking into consideration set amounts for lean muscle and frame size. Not everyone is the same though."

Qian said: "Has anyone ever had a physician, nutritionist, or dietician figure their body fat percentage? I'm just wondering how it compared with some of the calculators that are out there. If there isn't one that can come close, I'll probably go and have a professional do it."
