Albin0 said: "Okay, I'm 5'10, 229lbs, and I want to get down to 170lbs. Does anyone know the caloric intake that I need to ingest to lose 2lbs a week, plus I'm working out (resistance training and walking..) If anyone has any suggestions, tips, info, please let me know.. Thanks! :D"

Albin0 said: "Thanks Everyone! :) I'm actually using Fitday as my "food journal".. Does anyone else use fitday? It's free and you can actually put in your activities and stuff too! :) Oh! I lost 4lbs too! :D"

Heather said: "Keeping a food journal helps a lot. Especially if you have a tendancy to snack a lot. The calories can add up if you're not careful. 3,500 calories is equal to a pound. In order to lose a pound, you would have to burn or deficit them from your body."

The only thing is, you have to watch when you enter some of the foods because the quantities are sometimes strange. (I entered coffee creamer and the default serving size was 1 cup!). Other than that, it's awesome."

Holly said: "I would check out the sites that Qian mentioned. I think you have to have a calorie deficit of 3,500 per week to lose one pound a week. So, you need to have a 7,000 deficit. Your calorie restriction depends on how vigorous you're working out. Maybe you should keep a food journal for a week as well as going online to find out how many calories you're burning. I also heard somewhere that if you want to weigh 170 pounds, you should eat 1700 calories (for a slow, steady weight loss). If you want to weigh 160 pounds, eat 1600 calories and so on. As if obstaining from ice cream isn't enough, we have to do math homework as well!"

Qian said: "Here is a site that has a calcualtor www.menshealth.com/features/eat_this/sports/calculators/ Another place to check is www.dietbites.com They have a lot of differint ideas and amounts of calories to intake. Good luck, I hope these help."

Qian said: "I think the easiest way to do that is to cut 250 from your daily caloric needs and excercise enough to burn 250 calories ( I think a brisk 30 min walk would almost cover that.)"

Qian said: "What is the address for that? it sounds interesting."
