It wasn't the candy that did it...

UniqueMystique said: "Yes! And most of the banned people on this site have been banned for spamming/advertising. Very few have been banned for their viewpoints. And those that were banned for their viewpoints were banned because their views were dangerous....ex: Eating fewer than 600 calories a day and exercising in excess."

But each one has 600 calories or so because of the caramel (which is made from sugar and cream) and the nuts. That's why I kind of liked Weight Watchers...I could look up many foods and find out if they were "healthy" or not."

About the designations....it has to do with how many posts you have, mostly. Newb's have the fewest, then it goes to "Regular", then to "Superstar", etc. Moderators are able to "ban" people if we feel that they are putting dangerous advice on here...advocating eating disorders, illegal drug use, etc. We don't ban people just because we don't like them or whatever! :) We are a community of support for health and healthy weight-loss through improving your lifestyle. We try to keep people out who are obvious spammers trying to sell products or encouraging unhealthy weight loss behavior. I wish we didn't have to ban anyone, but sometimes people aren't here for the right reasons unfortunately. Hope that helps :) I'm glad to hear you had a fun and safe Halloween. Do you do anything cool for Christmas? If I lived right by a lake, I'd definitely have ice skating parties."

GreenEyes said: "OMG...all this rum talk is making me want to get into my bottle:D I love rum and I have the best kind from Jamaica. That recipe sounds soooo good.....I'd only need one mug and I'd be wasted."

DBrew said: "Everyone has a cheat sort of day now and then. I know some people allow one or two days a week where they can eat whatever they want. That would not work for me! I think your cheat was well worth it. Fun, friends, children! That is so valuable in the scheme of things. There is a time and a place for dieting. Something fun like that is not it. I think you were entitiled. Dont you hate it, though, when you THINK something is healthy(pumpkin soup) and it isnt? Bummer!"

klynnfosh said: "The advice your got from moderators explained most of what you asked, but as to reputation points if you find someone has given good advice then you click on the scales of that persons post on the upper right hand side and you can add to their reputation or take away I think, and you can add a comment if you wish. Hope that clears everything you asked. And I think your Halloween sounded great, so you had soup and buttered rum, you didn't just quit you got right back in the swing the next day good for you! That is the way to keep a slip from becoming a major set back!"

angel_rising said: "The recipe sounds great, but I am going to have to pass. I think that I will like it soo much that it would be extremely hard to keep it out of my diet. Angel"

Diamond said: "I have to resist eggnog. That and pumpkin rolls that are filled with cream cheese. Both of them are diet killers but taste so good. Pumpkin rolls greet you at the grocery store entrance these days, which stinks!"

Charity said: "Booooooo!!!! I'm allergic to dark rum. Not fair!"

lakelady said: "here's my recipe for hot buttered rum batter. You can also find some pretty good ones at a decent liquor store, but not as good as this. Do NOT use spiced rum in this recipe (like captain morgan's, for example) Lakelady's Hot Buttered Rum INGREDIENTS 1 pound butter 1 pound brown sugar 1 pound confectioners' sugar 1 quart vanilla ice cream, softened 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg DIRECTIONS Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Blend in brown sugar and confectioners' sugar. Remove from heat, and whisk in the ice cream, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour mixture into a plastic container, seal, and freeze. In a coffee mug, measure 1 tablespoon Hot Buttered Rum Batter and 1 fluid ounce of rum, then fill cup with boiling water. Stir, and sprinkle top of drink with nutmeg. To Transport (to skating parties, skiing, and such) mix the ingredients in proportion inside a larger thermos,(one of those big ones with a spigot). You can keep the batter in the freezer for months!"

Angel[/QUOTE] Don't worry too much, Angel. This is definitely a special occasion beverage and you really can't drink a damaging amount of caloreis worth. the heat really speeds up the effect of the rum. drink more than a couple and you'd be too intoxicated to have more. Wouldn't be able to find your lips with the mug! :D"

lakelady said: "Ok, Halloween. I was doing so well on my diet. THEN on halloween we lakedwellers really go all out to put on a 'haunted lake' for the little trick-or-treaters. We really have a good time and this year was no exception. When the little ones taper off we gather in the commons for 'treats' of our own, usually involving pretty large quantities of hot buttered rum. butter...sugar...rum, not diet friendly. This year my neighbor brought a huge pot of pumpkin soup. Delicious! Doesn't sound TOO bad diet-wise. Then I asked for the recipe. More butter, heavy cream, LOTS of heavy cream!:( I'm back on track now, but it was definitely a bump in the road! Off the subject, but, just curious. I see the designations below the names of the members in the posts...you know, Jane Doe-superstar, lakelady-regular, etc. What's the designation 'banned'? can that mean actually BANNED, as in shunned, persona non grata, banished?? What do you have to do to get kicked out? I mean, I've written that it's possible to lose weight without excercising. (I didn't say it was GOOD, mind you) if that won't get you banned from a weight-loss forum, then what does? I say again, just curious. Also, what's with the little green buttons, "lakelady is on a distinguished road", etc.? What's rep power? I know somebody out there knows these things. Lakelady seeks enlightenment. :)"
