2 big sticks might come in handy.."
Heather said: "I think I've saw a couple people using them in the metroparks around here, but not many.
It would add some resistance and an upper body workout, too so it makes sense.."
Darren said: "To be honest, I'd hate to be seen using one of those contraptions :)"
UniqueMystique said: "Just wondering if anyone has used these or seen them being used. Their claim is that they beat boredom and that they boost caloric burn by 40%. The poles are supposed to enlist upper body and abdominal muscles to create a workout that's similar to cross country skiing."

I guess they are very popular in Norway and Sweden...if you aren't embarrassed to be seen in public with them, then go for it ;)"

Ha..that's the first thing that came to mind when I saw them because I do alot of walking on a pretty isolated, wooded trail area either alone or with my son.........but I just don't think they're for me."

I guess they would give more benefits than walking alone, but I am sure you could achieve the same thing with wrist weights, and make sure you swing your arms when you walk, maybe you would not be as noticeable that way."
