Sounds like a very painful experience, FatExterminator.
Did they give you any tips to prevent them from happening again?"

Kidney stones sound like they're very painful and something to try and prevent for sure."

It's funny though.....I read another article last week tauting the benefits of drinking lemon juice for kidney stones."
UniqueMystique said: "At the time my husband had his kidney stones he was doing a strict low carb diet and drinking diet Dr. Pepper all the time. He was told that he needed to drop the diet DP, that he could keep doing the diet but that he needed to be drinking a whole lot more water."
UniqueMystique said: "That's odd because I read something similar this past week about lemon juice. It said to mix 4 ounces of pure lemon juice to 64 ounces of water and to drink it on a daily basis. The lemon boosts production of urinary citrate which is a chemical that inhibits stone formation. Yet the article posted above says that this is not so. I wonder what's what?!?!?!"

Drinking lots of water and drinking almost anything acidic can prevent them (OJ, lemonade, cranberry juice, etc.) but some people genetically are prone to them. I just hope I never get one!"

And i clearly remember, the nurse who helped me exercise after the sugery( got them removed by lazer ) said that kidney stones hurt MORE then childbirth. Though there are many types of stones, the ones i had were the worst. Since those 5 days in the hospital it changed me. And now im 60 pounds less and on this forum. :)"

Too much acid is bad, but I guess a little each day is good for you more than the vitamin C it provides. My father had gout, and was limited to 4 ounces of orange juice only per day, I guess too much acid make this type of arthritis worse."

The first we went to the ER and had a CAT scan done (waste of $4000) to tell us he needed to pass 6 stones! This time he just used some hydrocodone and 2 days rest to pass them. WE don't know how many he had this time. I'll have to pass this info and maybe just adding it to his diet will help prevent a third occurence."
