The alcoholic fog clears with long-term sobriety

Heather said: "It has long term affects on your liver, too. Cirrosis of the liver is a horrible disease.."

Heather said: "I'm sorry to hear about your brother, Klynn. That had to be difficult for you and any other family and friends to watch. I think a lot of times people don't even realize that they can take fatal doses of alcohol. Alcohol poisoning isn't a cool way to go out, either.."

Darren said: "I wonder where the medical community stands on Alzheimers/alcoholism because there seems to be a link based on anecdotal evidence. Long term drinking has to affect you bad. I know a few people who have the "Fog" really bad."

Darren said: "Fallen Angel, that's really cool of him. It shows he'd rather be married to you and he understands how the drinking would be unpleasant for you."

Darren said: "Good news for any alcoholics: quitting long term clears up the foggy thinking At least the damage is reversible."

spectrachic311 said: "That's good news, I guess. My grandpa was an alcoholic for 30 or so years (probably more) and when he got older he got Alzheimer's. The doctors think that his heavy drinking could have made the condition worse, so I wonder if his condition could have been prevented if he had quit drinking sooner."

klynnfosh said: "Yes it is Heather, I lost my brother who was 42 to that and hepititis, and he died very miserably! If I could stop one person from drinking and going through the same terrible fate I would be glad to share. Please anyone who drinks more than occasionally think it over, it really is not worth it!"

Jabberwocky said: "Wow, I've alway suspect this bbut never actually thought alhocol has long term effects on the brain. I'm glad I started to cut back on my booze intake when i started dieting."

angel_rising said: "Alcholism effects so many aspects of peoples lives. The health problems to long term drinking are many, and the emotional damage is long lasting. The families that live with alcoholics go threw quite a bit of misery. I am glad that my husband decided to never have another beer when he found out that I grew up with an alcholic father. Angel"
