My ambitions....

Viskar said: "OK, I weight 259, and I'm 6'0". Everyone I tell my weight too is severly shocked, like I'm a loner, most of the time, because I'm preety anti-social (But I am a waiter during the day, and a stocker at Wal-mart during the night, go figure) Well, they said I probably have alot of muscle, which I do, but I have alot of fat too, so I was coming here for help and assistance. Exercise is not an issue, I ride my bike everywhere, and I work 15 hours, so exercise is fine. I recently gave up soda, which was something very hard for me, now I have, maybe one every other week. Compared to the 2-3 liters I would drink a day. I want a serious eating plan, I'm not one of those people who can go and buy millions of things 'whey' and all this, and understand about it, no matter how much I read about it. I have been reading about the 'Abs Diet' by Mens Health, and it seems good. On pay-day I plan to buy alot of the stuff that is used in their recipes, but I was hoping for more A) More recipes B) More options. Something. Muscle isn't really too big of an issue with me, I aim to delete the fat more then anything.... Here is my exercise routine... 7PM (Start of my day) Warm-up (30 minutes) Bike ride to work (20 miles) 8:30PM Start work 7:00AM Clock out Stretch a little, then ride my bike 30 miles to my other job 8:30 AM - 4PM, work. Ride bike home. That is mond-wed. Thursday and Friday I only work the 8PM job, and Sat/Sun I only work the 8AM job.... Sat/Sun, I don't exercise, with the exception of my bike ride. My diet, is literally whatever I grab from the frozen isle at work (usually something semi healthy) Or I don't eat. At day job I will eat a salad, with a light Fat Free Ranch on it. I'm trying to eat 6 times a day, but it's very hard alot of times, specifically with no recipes! Any suggestions would be severly helpful! Thanks! 19 260(roughly)lbs 6'0" BF% = Unknown"

Also, whatever I eat at lunch, is something I get from Wal-Mart, because most of the things I bring from home go bad, but right now I'm out of money! So on payday I plan to load up on all of the things from the 'Abs Diet' recipe book... Also, can you specify some of these 'grains' and 'lean meats' like give some examples? Like I know "Lean Turkey" and "Oatmeal" but that term is so vague to me, in alot of ways. Also, luckily I could easily eat every 2-4 hours, depending on the time of day, so 6 meals a day isn't hard, it's WHAT to eat on these meals. I could always buy an apple/banana whatever for a Wal-mart break, no problem. But the Abs_Diet says to eat Almost, etc, etc. Thanks for your comments, hope to have alot more! P.S. How come I weigh so much, but everyone is so surprised when they find out the number? I ask people like twice my size, and they only weight like 30-40 lbs more. It's kind of baffling, in alot of ways."

In one week, I receive my paycheck, I plan to buy a lot of food to go along with the "Abs Diet" plan, such as Whey, Peanuts, Almonds, FF Cream Cheese, etc. If you anyone knows of some good items/food to buy, or recipes, hit me up with 'em! Again thank everyone very much for their response(s)!"

I would suggest maybe a fruit smoothie for your ride to work as a starting meal, if you do not have time to sit and eat. 6 meals a day is a good way to keep your body fueled. You need to include whole grains, fruits and vegetables in your day, along with lean protein and low or non fat dairy. What do you eat other than the frozen food meal? There are some healthy choices to make in frozen food, however most of them are small portions and loaded with sodium, read the labels. I would suggest you taking along some fruit or veggies to go along with one of those meals. I would also suggest you drink plenty of water as it does help. I am sure you will get some more suggestions as well. Best of luck to you."

Whole grains are in oatmeal, but also in whole grain breads, cereals, pita breads, crackers, brown rice, whole wheat pasta. Lean meats do include turkey, chicken, fish, leaner cuts of beef, tuna. Good sources of protein are also in beans and legumes, and peanut butter, although you have to watch the portion size and it does have fat, but it is the good kind of fat. Most all fruits and vegetables are good for you but some such as potato, green peas and corn are more starchy so watch portion sizes on them. There are lots of very low calorie vegetable which you can eat as much as you want without counting or measuring portions on. As for why people who don't weight alot more than you do and look so much bigger, each person carries his or her weight differently and I am imagine you have quite a bit of muscle tone to your weight with all the bike riding you do, so you will look a lot more toned then they do. Hope this helps you a little more."

They will also send you free recipe magazines every season. All of their recipes have complete nutrition info and a rating system so that you can see what others think. You can also put in your two cents, suggestions, ect. You can refine your search for low fat, low calorie, ect. I use their recipes at least twice a week. My favorite is the re-done version of beef enchiladas. I'll never use another recipe for enchiladas--and these are lower in fat and calories. Try that, and maybe you can build a better recipe base for eating better. And I agree that eating more will help you."
