Help!!!!

Welcome :) I know what it's like to want to prove guys wrong about being fat, but it definitely can't be your only motivation or you will probably have a tough time sticking it out. Your health should be your number one goal (and hey, if you end up looking hot, it's a nice side benefit!). What does your current diet consist of? Sometimes just realizing what your calories come from can really wake you up. For example...before I decided to get healthy, I would regularly eat a Culver's Concrete Malt (I don't know if anyone else has ever heard of Culver's, but it's super good frozen custard) which has about 900 calories or so. Yikes!! And that would be AFTER eating a ButterBurger and fries dinner (another 1600 calories or so!). And that was just for one meal. Once you realize where your calorie traps are, you can begin to make changes. One that I could easily make: Eating a dish of lemon ice at Culver's instead of a Concrete malt. Lemon Ice: 150 calories, Concrete Malt: 900 calories. See? :) Also, you need to exercise to help your body realize that it should be burning fuel and not storing it. Do you exercise at all now? If not, start with something pretty easy like walking or biking or a low-impact workout video. Then work it up to higher intensities as you go. I started out walking a couple miles a day, then I started running 3/4 mile and walking the rest. Then I gradually increased and now I run 7 miles a day easily. So yeah, ANYONE can get in shape. If I can, anyone can. I was the "anti-athlete" in high school and I always failed those fitness tests in gym class and my gym teacher nominated me for the "most out-of-shape high school student" Gee, what an honor. :P Glad you found us and wish you the best of luck!"

You might be able to have any where from 1200 to 1800 calories and still lose weight, it all depends on you basic calories your body needs. Then I would start by trying to eliminate fats and sugars in your daity diet. Eat whole grains, lean protein sources, low fat dairy, fresh fruits and vegetables and learn to love water. Then you need to add some exercise to the mix, about 30 minutes a day to start is great. Even if you can only do 10 that is a start. Try to include a wide variety of foods in your eating plan, and don't try to eliminate every food you love or you will not be able to stick with it in the long run. You will find you love new and different foods once you change your eating. I have found sweets just don't taste quite as good as they did before and when I do eat something I think, why it really was not that good, what a waste of my caloreis. I hope this helps you with a starting point. Good luck and just show that ex one day!!"
