pixiechic said: "sounds like you have a plan of action going on.
if you haven't been that active up until this point, you might want to start slow.
listen to your body, drink a lot of water and don't forget that you might need a day of rest every once and again.
let us know how it goes for you!"

It is also good to have one day of rest imbetween so that your body can rest. A start out plan might be to do it for 3 days a week. Walking is a great start to gain momentum and acceptance to a new excercise plan. If you overdo it, you will burn out. Do the 3 days a week for a month then switch it up to 4 and change your calories to a little higher. Once you get used to something, change it around. You could add weights(ankle or wrist) in there one day as well. Alternating your workout really helps to get your body on the move. I am glad you have chosen pilates, it is a very nice workout. Start out 15 minutes and work it up after a while. You will be sore the next day so take it easy."

Do what you can. That is the best thing you can do."

In college when I was dropping weight, I helped out my mom and dad when they were trying to lose weight as well. They really were able to learn a lot and discover hidden Calorie traps in certain foods. One thing my mom and I would do is take a favorite recipe and try it low-cal. It was really fun and you'd be amazed at what you can omit from foods really easily without sacrificing much taste. Oh yes, you said you hate fish...I do too, usually, but I've found that oven-broiling it with a little mustard brushed on top and laced with a little lemon juice does wonders for it. And you can't overcook it...or YUCK!!! :P"
Holly said: "What does the rest of your family typically eat at meal time, or at least supper time?
When I was dieting as a teenager (I lost about 70 pounds in my senior year of high school and slightly after), I asked my mom to buy more vegetables to cook at dinner time (instead of always having salads). I also asked for more fruit, oatmeal, rice, lean lunch meat. If you look in fitness magazines or online you will find meal plans. You don't need to follow the plan exactly, but it will give you ideas. Vegetables, fruit, beans, and rice are very low priced. I imagine your mom already buys meat for the family, so I would ask for lean meat...it will be good for everyone.
So, make her a list...or better yet, go with her, she would probably appreciate the help. Good luck to you. I bet you are already a pretty healthy person if you can get through soccer and track season.

It sounds like with track and soccer, you're already very active. Good for you! Keep that up!
Best of luck! :D"
