I told my Former doctor this and he said it was bunk. Well I started taking only Armour Thyroid in the morning and other vitamins at least 4 hours later and I started to lose weight! I went to him to show that I was losing weight. He researched it and CALLED me to apologize because there is evidence this is true. I have since found another doctor."

I put together a fairly complete list of goitrogens some time ago. Here's what I came up with, but I am sure tyhere are othere things that can and will be added over time.
Avoid unless cooked thouroughly:
* African cassava
* Asparagus
* babassu (a palm-tree coconut fruit popular in Brazil and Africa)
* Broccoli
* brussels sprouts
* Cabbage
* Cauliflower
* horseradish
* kale
* kohlrabi
* leafy green vegetables (turnip greens, mustard greens, collard greens)
* Legumes (beans and peas)
* peanuts
* pine nuts
* Processed meats
* radishes
* rutabaga
* Spinach
* turnips
* Watercress
Avoid entirely:
* Soy in any form that isn't fermented
* millet (actually WORSE when cooked)
* Rapeseed, canola, flax, soybean, safflower, corn and other polyunsaturated fats/oils"

Malto meal or Oatmeal made with water is good. My mom just puts splenda on it or eats it plain. I have two nices that alergic to milk and we buy them soy milk (I do not recomend soy products as my and my sister's research has found it is not good for people with a hypothyroid) and rice milk. You can also get butter made with soy and rice milk. I hope this helps."

I do not drink alot of milk or eat alot of cheese so I have not run across that and all my test have come out fine since my med is at the level it needs to be. My sister has Hachimotoes (sp?)and has never had that problem. Anyway I hope my suggestions help you out."
