Instant Gratification

Yum said: "Yes. That seems to be how a few people are, but most are determined IF they really want to lose."

shrkntz said: "Losing weight takes a lot of effort and struggle. I can see how some can get irritated and bothered by the slow progress. I think of it at stairs. Each time I climb one, I might step back but it gets easier to skip stairs up once I work hard at it."

Albin0 said: "I don't want instant gratification... Any time I've ever lost weight fast, or known anyone that's lost weight fast it comes back quick. It's kind of like that line in a rap song, "Money that comes quick, leaves quick." Sort of the same parallel between that and weight lost fast. :D"

pixiechic said: "as you get older, your metabolism gets slower too. that is why it is easier to do when your younger."

featherish said: "If you do anything consistantly for a long period of time, in most cases you will see results. Athletes have to work for years to be their best. maybe we should all think of ourselves as "athletes in training"?"

Henrietta said: "Of course everyone wants instant gratification. But it's not that easy usually. Real results take real effort."

Cupcake said: "LOL I love that commercial :D It is sad tho that people expect results that fast."

Darren said: "If you make the decision to lose weight, it can end up being an enormous task that takes year. I think most people realize that."

Darren said: "I really believe as you get closer to 40 the weight loss goes SLOW too. At least it is for me."

Darren said: "I'm determined too. Determination is the best thing I have."

helplesscase said: "Haha, I've never saw that commercial. But I totally agree with what you said."

UniqueMystique said: "Has anyone seen the commercial where the man walks into the gym, steps on the scale and it reads 249. He steps off...looks very determined...then jogs once around the gym and then steps back on the scale. It again reads...249 and he gets mad and smacks the scales a few times? Isn't it sad that this country (the U.S.) wants everything NOW? Seems we've lost the notion that 'hard work' pays off. Seems everyone wants a miracle cure or a miracle pill or an easy button to avoid putting in any effort to gain desired results. We're in a sad, sad state America. (I don't even know what the commercial was for....that's how much I watch T.V. :))"

UniqueMystique said: "People may realize that it's going to take a long time to lose weight...but that doesn't keep them from hoping that there is or will be an easier solution."

UniqueMystique said: "It's certainly going slower for me this time than it did 4 years ago. But I'm still determined to be in the best shape I can be in by age 40. Three years to go!"

Qian said: "That's why when you look at diet commercials for pills or equipment, they never say how long it took or the diet and excercise that was supplemented with the product. People will see a before and after and think, "wow that was fast.""
