Yes, it does get harder and harder

At 100 pounds it only takes 1200 calories! So if the person in my example (DAK? are you there??) wanted to shed a few more pounds, she could healthily cut very few additional calories before slowing her metabolism or putting her body in "starvation mode" as it has been called here. Let's say she cuts an additional 35 calories a day and continues her regular exercise plan, it will then take 100 days to lose a pound!! (If my math was correct, and 3500 calories does make a pound!) It's easy to get frustrated when you don't see results quickly but maybe it helps to understand the simple math involved. Jen"

So yes, create a small caloric deficit so you are in fat loss mode naturally, but nowhere near starvation. The rest of the calorie reduction should come from energy expenditure, i.e. working out."
