Fast Food, Healthy Eating, Supersized Bodies...Fast Food, Healthy Eating, Supersized Bodies...
pixiechic said: "even if you didn't get physically sick, it seems that your energy wouldn't be worth much of anything. the last time i had breakfast there it felt like there was a rock in my gut for the next 3 hours.
they pull the meat out of warming drawers? seems weird to me.."
pixiechic said: "subway offers fresh sandwiches and salads that are always pretty filling and aren't too expensive. you can also top them anyway you want to.
that is how jared lost all of his weight, along with exercise."
Yum said: "Salads can be treacherous though! If you go to McDonalds.com and search around and go to the bag thing, you can find out just how many cals are in your meal."
Yum said: "I do NOT eat at any fast food places, unless you count subway. There, I always get lettuce and peppers on wheat bread, but I am switching to italian white because it has less cals or carbs, and then I add a serving of italian or low cal/fat caesar dressing. Mm!"
Heather said: "Thanks for sharing those articles with us.
A lot of good useful information.."
Heather said: "I haven't saw it yet, but have heard about it.
Maybe I'll have to rent it out one of these weekends.
It sounds like a really bad way to eat for a month."
Darren said: "Qian makes a good point. If you're motivated, you can eat healthy even at the fast food places.
Stick to the salads, and you usually won't go wrong."
Darren said: "I actually had one last night. I didn't try to substitute a topping, so I have no idea if it costed extra.
The thing was very tasty."
Darren said: "I gotta tell you, the main fast food places around here aren't even clean. It's like they're geared for people on a whole nother level.
I think fast food is really a last resort. If you order the salad, you should be alright."

cvalh said: "The thing with Subway is some people think you can eat just ANYthing at Subway, and obviously you can't. It has some stuff that's just as bad for you as anywhere else. Those good for you sandwiches? Many don't even take into account the cheese that most people add!"
cvalh said: "A lot of McDonald's are being weird about this now. They give you a hard time if it appears you're ordering for yourself, and claim something about a 12 and under policy. Pretty hard to enforce tho, since some people pick stuff up without their family."

UniqueMystique said: "I can't imagine eating at McDonald's every day. I think I'd get sick within a week. Only reason I go there is so that my kids can play if we've been couped up due to bad weather."
UniqueMystique said: "Topping the salads and sandwiches any way you want at the Subway here has gotten expensive. You have to purchase one of their pre-made salads and if you want to add or take something off....it's 50 cents per item. Wasn't like that two years ago. I think it's just here though......I ate at one a few months ago in another town and was able to put what I wanted."
UniqueMystique said: "I used to order Children's Meals as a teenager. Was fun to see the stares from the workers."
spectrachic311 said: "Here's a good subway strategy....order a sandwich and get it as a salad. I think it may cost a bit extra (like 40 cents or something) but then you don't have to get cheese or whatever on it. I like the oven roasted chicken breast. And I just get veggies for toppings. Also, subway has low cal salad dressings, which are another big fat trap."
Holly said: "I know it's not healthy, but to cut down on portion sizes, I've heard of some gals ordering the Happy Meal at McDonalds along with their kids. It is a lot less calories than the Value Meals (especially if you're prone to super-sizing)."
lotusleaf said: "has anyone seen the documentary Super Size Me about a journalist who ate nothing but Mcdonalds for a month?? If not-watch it!!"
Qian said: "Not everything is bad at McDonald's though. The Chicken Ceasar, and California Cobb are both pretty decent only 220-250 calories for a pretty big salad, then if you only use half of the dressing pack that adds only 60-90 calories. Add a water or diet soda and it's a pretty decent quick meal. I also think it is low carb friendly, but i'm not sure. I have done it a couple times while i've been dieting and it's a nice break from cooking. Any one else now of some good fast food entrees on those days when you'd rather eat out so you don't need the value meal?"
Qian said: "One thing that i've found is every fast food website has the nutrition values on it, you can go there and see what you can eat when you go there. Just keep that in mind and know that if you do go there only order what you'll be able to eat, you'd be suprised what getting smaller burgers and small fries can do. it's really not that bad."
Qian said: "Had a McDonalds California Cobb Salad tonight. 260 cal for the salad and 120 cal for the entire packet of dressing. It was very good and filling. Try it out."
whateverhobb said: "My husband has vowed to never eat McDonalds again. He is more of a Subway kind of guy. No wonder he is so skinny....Lol "
