Maybe I'm Weird, But...Maybe I'm Weird, But...
DLT said: "It can be so many different things. I too feel very tired if I do excercises in the morning but it has the opposite affect in the later afternoon or evening. Another consideration like you brought up can be diet, too few calories and/or carbohydrates can do the same thing. Do you take vitamins? Iron supplements? Maybe if none of these work for you, you should consider seeing your doctor for advice."
lambchop said: "Hi cvalh,
I don't think you are weird. When I was in school, I used to work out whenever I could. It dropped by the wayside after I graduated, but then picked up later on.
I get tired, too. And I've talked to people that I know who are heroes in my book, and they have said the same thing. Sometimes you feel better on a particular day than you ever have before and you haven't done anything different. It's just the way it goes. The fact that you keep doing it is what's important.
I have had the advice that after you stabalize a bit and do things just for maintanence, it gets easier. And after about a year of walking, I would say that's true. I still have a lot of weight to lose, but sometimes after I'm done walking I just feel good. It took a lot to get to that point. Of course, I walked 3 miles on Saturday and then took a three hour nap :)"

Maybe instead of the eliptical and free-weights, try doing carido on a treadmill with some hand weights, just to change it up! :D
Good luck!"
featherish said: "Maybe you need to balance things a little better?
I know that sometimes in life things get hectic, but then you have to learn to accomodate what needs to be done. This will more than likely be something you'll have to do for the rest of your life anyhow.
Once you get out of college, it will be things like a job, a boyfriend/husband/family."
featherish said: "Well then you should do well.
A little holiday break should refresh you and life is good!"

Heather said: "Excuses never help.
I guess it comes down to how important it is to you.
If you are content to be the way you are now, just keep doing what you're doing. If you're not happy, then make it a priority to make the changes necessary to make it happen. If you make it something you might enjoy, it seems a lot less like working out.
No one can make you do something you don't want to do for yourself."
Heather said: "If that is the case, then it's time to be strong and just do what needs to be done.
Maybe a cup of green tea could help wake you up a bit?"
Heather said: "CValh..
I wasn't meaning to sound critical of you.
I was just trying to offer an idea. Sorry.."
Darren said: "Try some different exercises or sports. If you aren't finding the refreshed feeling, you may not be enjoying what you're doing too much."
Darren said: "Well, if morning it has to be, maybe there's a way to improve how you feel.
What types of exercise are you doing? Do you workout alone or with someone else?"
helplesscase said: "Well, since I dont go to the gym, I dont really know. But maybe you should try going at a different time and see what happens..."
cvalh said: "So my challenge is that I DON'T feel invigorated or energized after going to the gym. I feel tired, and because I have to go in the morning, I usually have to go in the afternoon. Now, I'm knowledgable enough about the body to know I'm when I am or am not eating and sleeping right, and I'm STILL tired if I work out. Does anyone else have this problem? Everyone talks about how pumped working out makes them feel..."
cvalh said: "That's because I DON'T enjoy exercize, Bigboy. Lol, I like lacrosse, and play on the school team, but even that doesn't leave me refreshed."
cvalh said: "Sweet - I love LAX even if I don't love the exercizing. For a long time, I played Ice Hockey and Field Hockey as well... Ended up quitting Ice Hockey because of a knee thing, and Feild Hockey because LAX became more full-time when I got to college (that was a choice of which sport I liked better)."
cvalh said: "the point was, i CAN'T go at a different time. My schedule is to hectic for me to do anything but the morning."
cvalh said: "I DO go in the morning, because I DO want the change. I never said I didn't. But I don't enjoy going and it wipes me out, which causes me to slack off in other things. As for going any other time? Well, I'm either in class, working on treasury stuff for the club I'm involved in, or doing homework. These are responsibilities that I canNOT shirk. Any later at night, and there's not much way to do it (outside is somewhat dangerous in Atlanta at night, the gym's closed, and the apartment is SMALL). Call these excuses if you want, but the reality is they limit me to going to the gym in the morning."
cvalh said: "I do the ellipticle and free weights, because that's basically what's available to me that even looks semi-"fun." I could do rowing machines at another location, which I do enjoy, but that's not feasible on a regular basis.
As for working out with someone, one of my roomies was going to, but she informed me on no uncertain terms that she would NOT get up that early. Everyone else I know has one excuse or another why they won't or can't, so off to the gym I go alone."
cvalh said: "lol, Snappea, I DESPISE green tea :-P As for sleep, does any college student get enough sleep? I can't work out, go to class, do homework, be involved in clubs, AND get enought sleep! And as for being strong and doing what needs to be done - again, I'll say that's what I already do. I was bitching that it wears me out, not that I don't do it :-\"
cvalh said: "Snappea, I didn't think you DID sound critical, I was just clarifying. And Featherish, things ARE balanced. As well as they can be anyway. My schedule is as well laid out as it can get, and I get more sleep than many of my friends."
cvalh said: ""Should" do well is the key. The point of the original post was that I do what I'm supposed to do, and I still hate it and get wiped out :-\ My doc's even done thyroid tests on me, but they came back normal. Holidays don't help, I've tried! Meh :-\ Not really looking for advice, because I've heard most of it before, unless someone has something really out of the ordinary to say. In this case, I was more needing people to listen to me rant."
cvalh said: "lambchop... it's not a matter of exercize being easy... i've played sports for years now. i'm in ok shape, i'm just fat."
cvalh said: "Like I said before, yes I take vitamins... Doctor's orders, in fact. And I can't do the treadmill, it makes me dizzy. No idea why, has something to do with balance obviously."
UniqueMystique said: "I know that it's easier if you have to meet someone to work out. Which I do. I've found though that after I'm there...I tend to do my own thing. She either doesn't want to or doesn't feel like putting in a full workout. I guess I just have a stronger desire and willpower than she does. I have to give her credit for showing up though."
iowamomma2002 said: "I know exactly what u mean after i work out i usually feel tired and needing some sleep. my mom thinks its cuz i dropped calories to low, but i do not think so and i have vitamins also. SO what the heck???"
stroutman81 said: "Lacrosse player here!"
lotusleaf said: "I think that what is happening is that during your exercise, your body is releasing alot of endorphins and adrenaline, and when you stop and unwind, you feel tired as this is your bodys way of telling you it needs time to regain the adrenaline levels-least thats what i remember from my nurse training!!"
Qian said: "Do you have breakfast before you go or after you go?"
Qian said: "Sometimes if your body isn't getting enough energy you could feel drained after a workout. are you eating anything before or after your workouts?"
Qian said: "cvalh,
maybe something to do is take a break from the gym for a week. Just don't excercise at the gym, go play ball, or for a walk, or something totally different. Sometimes just taking a break from the whole gym scene will invigorate you and give you that rush after your done."
