The Art of Fighting FatThe Art of Fighting Fat

People that do these Adkins and South Beach diets (among others), unless this is a life change you can live with you will eventually fail. The only proven diets that work involve exercise and eating sensibly."

make a list of things that you need to buy and stick to it!
avoid buying junk foods like chips or candy, and stock up on fresh fruits, vegetables and lean meats."

Your body functions a lot better when you have a good nights sleep."

A positive attitude. Don't get frustrated and don't lose sight of your ultimate goal. Keep at it.
Exercise. If you don't move your body, you don't build muscle or burn fat.
A Goal and a time period in which to get there. Just saying that I want to lose weight isn't enough. Your goal should be more defined, like "I want to lose X pounds by April 1st." Not having a goal makes it harder to work towards."

What weapons should everyone carry into to the battle against sloth and oveweight? What techniques would we encourage a new person to study, and what principles would govern our lessons?"
Darren said: "Good points.
I think some of the food weapons you need to add to the arsenal are:
salad, chicken, very learn red meat, and vegetables.
You need to prepare to eat lighter."

Weapon = Knowledge
Techniques = Listen to and know your body
Principles = Experience/wisdom"

He did it for the art/science aspect of it, like he enjoyed it. I think you would need in your arsenal: 1) The right kinds of foods: vegetables, lean protein, fruits, etc. 2) Exercise: nothing will help boost your weight loss efforts more and give you better results than working out and 3) Motivation: You need to have a goal in mind and it has to be attainable. Not everyone can look like Uma Thurman in "Kill Bill" (Although, that'd be awesome to have her body) :cool:"
