Ugh...It's all back on...

Leah20 said: "Hi All Not sure if anyone here will remember me, I posted here alot last summer. I managed to lose a total of 12 lbs, which was 3lb away from my goal weight :) Then I started school...What they say about the freshman 15 must be right, because I gained exactly 15 lbs in my first year of school. So i'm shooting for a 20 lb loss this time. I'm currently 142 and would like to be around 122. I was doing fairly well for awhile, I was down to 137 and going to the gym 3x a week. Then exams hit and I gained 5lbs in like 3 weeks. I'm hoping that will come back off relatively fast. My plan to lose the weight is to start using fitday regularily and cook healthier meals, along with using the gym at school. Wish me luck!!"

If you're fit and happy with yourself going into college, the 15 is more likely to come at you out of no-where, because you don't see it coming. However, I went into college overweight and unhappy, and so I decided it was the perfect time and place to get my habits together. I use the "free" (paying boatloads in tuition so its not really free..lol) gym, to exersize, I walk everywhere, don't drink anymore, and eat right! It was actually a really good way for me to re-arrange my life! You can do it too! About the freshman 15, it is CRAZY how that number is exactly what people usually gain. The girl that lives next to me gained exactly 15 pounds, so did a few other girls we know. Its totally the depressing magic number! Good luck!"

If you can live with it long enough to lose weight then you should be able to live with it for the rest of your life. You will of course be allowed to have more to eat when you get to the maintanance stage. The one thing I have had problems with over the years was keeping it off, and that simple was because I fell back into my old eating habits. I have lost 43 pounds at one point, and didn't quite gain it all back but most of it. Life has its ups and downs and we have to realize that eating might make us feel better for a little while but when the pounds come back we have more problems to deal with. I am committed this time when I get to my goal to keep them off. The occasional treat should be just that occasional not every day as was my problem. Good luck, and I know the college years are really rough on young people."

I worked super hard and lost 30 pounds about 2.5 years ago (I did have some unhealthy habits that I don't want to return to this time), but then I decided to go back to college full-time. Well, I've gained back 30 pounds. I had a baby 4 months ago and lost all of my pregnancy weight in a month (how, I don't know!) Now I'm working on losing everything else that has accumulated these past 2 years and go to school. It is hard! The freshman 15 is no myth! We just have to work extra hard, I guess! :)"

Feel free to instant message me if you would like....I know I could use some motivation and maybe you could too! We seem to be having almost the same issue so if you need to talk, I'm here! :) Jessica"
