Swimming

It's non impact and you don't get sweaty, so a lot of newbie exercisers start with it. My mom did a water aerobics class for a while and she loved it. It was the only workout she could really last through because she didn't get too winded."

As I said it's all about control. Just make sure that you plan a snack for after the pool :) I love swimming, it's a great way to work out without getting gross and sweaty AND it's fun!! I say go for it, that definately sounds like a good plan :)"

When I come back home or wherever it is I'm going I don't feel like eating at all..I'm thirsty, but never hungry."

Maybe it has something to do with the weightlessness in the water, I don't know. But it was crazy! I would go home and feel like I could eat a horse! It was so weird!"

But for those of us who don't like running, it's a good way to reap a lot of the same benefits. Yet, I was reading some articles wherein they say swimming isn't as effective, as it tends to increase your appetite, so while you actually burn as many calories as you would with a slow jog, most people tend to immediately replace what they just burned. It would seem to me that as long as you don't overindulge, and keep within the parameters of your diet caloric intake, swimming should be quite effective. It's something that I'd like to start doing in the mornings, anyway. It gets quite hot in Florida, so sometimes taking an hour-long walk isn't desirable. And I can't afford to go to the gym, so I'm thinking of getting up early, before college classes, doing a 30-min. swim, and then taking a 30-min. walk later in the day."

She always takes an apple and has it after she gets out of the pool. People also tend to forget that they get dehydrated when swimming because they do not notice the sweat, so its important to drink after swimming, and this can control the hunger. Good Luck, I'm probably joining you virtually in the pool!"
