im getting FATTER!im getting FATTER!
doctoru2 said: "The above advice is excellent. Even though you may feel "fat", you are not. At 130 pounds, you are not fat (unless you are only 3 feet tall). If you feel a little bit heavy, then simple changes, like decreasing sugar content is a big one. Replace soda with water, Crystal Light or Diet Soda. Replace juice with diet juice or dilute the juice with water (this might taste odd at first, but after a while, you'll find yourself unable to drink regular juice as it will be too sweet!). And, of course, avoid things like candy.
As a teen, junk food is part of your diet. It's tough to avoid eating hamburgers or pizza with friends. So here are some other tips - ask for a substitute for fries. Many restaurants - even fast food chains - will give a small salad instead of fries (Wendy's is famous for this). At a pizza place, take a napkin and lightly dab off all that extra oil on top of your slice. Yeah, it's a bit tacky, but would you rather have all that fat going into your body?
Biggest thing is portion control. Have that one slice of pizza instead of two. Eat that small popcorn at a movie theater - or none at all.
Because you are so young, you can make changes to your life now that you may wind up keeping for the rest of your life. Older people, like me, have to fight all of the bad habits that I've been doing for decades. But people can and do change - so keep at it.
Lastly, exercise! People starve themselves to near death, but they don't exercise! Some will smoke a pack of cigarettes a day to stay thin, but won't exercise. 20-30 minutes a day of weight-lifting, biking, jogging, swimming, whatever (at the gym or at home or around the block) is far better than not eating or smoking! I have found that I can diet all I want, but the only time I really lose weight is when I exercise. Get that metabolism burning!"

You need to perk up and start feeling better about yourself. From your other posts I've gathered that you're 5' 2" and when you joined featherish about a year ago you were 150 pounds! You should be PROUD of yourself that you've lost 20 pounds and kept it off. Even if you have lost sight a bit and regained some, you've realized it now and you're back on the right track before you gain back anymore!
Also, at 5' 2" and 130, your BMI is approximatley 23.5, depending how how muscular you are. A healthy BMI is generally regarded between 18.5-25, so are you most definitley not overweight or fat. If you want to get down to 108 thats fine! Just do the same thing you used to do, eat right and get back on the bandwagon. 108 would put your BMI around 19.5, so thats still a healthy goal. Don't be down on yourself, you're very young and just eating right and being active will shed those pounds off in no time!"

Don't let others dictate what you should weigh. Your body and your clothes should be your guide. Maybe you just need to tone up your body and try to eat healthy. What do you normally eat? As a growing teen your body needs, protein, calcium for bones, carbs for energy, and even some daily fat for normal metabolism and body functions, so you have to be careful how much your restrict from your diet. It is best if you want to shed a few pounds to cut out junk food and soda, and those little changes alone will help you lose weight, then if you add a little exercise 20-30 minutes a day that will even make it easier to shed unwanted pounds. Let us know what you need help on, and I am sure you will get several helpful replies."
Kimberleigh said: "You are 15 years old, honey. You are bound to gain and lose while your body evens itself out. This can happen until you are almost 20! Please, for your own sake, throw away the scale. Worry about a healthy diet and exercise, not about numbers on that evil plastic box.
Cut processed sugars (candy, pop) and refined carbs (like white bread, flour tortillas, hamburger buns). Eat lean protein, vegetables high in fiber and other friendly nutrients, and high water content fruits. Drink lots of water. The importance of water cannot be over-emphasised. Exercise at least 30 min/day. Go for a walk, swim, do yoga...whatever gets your heart rate up. If you sweat, so much the better. Drink water before, during, and after your workouts. Be sure to get a full 8 hours sleep at night. No drugs or alcohol. Be positive. Learn to love yourself as you are. Be healthy for you, not for anyone else.
PLEASE be safe about losing weight. Too many young girls are damaging themselves needlessly in the name of a popular ideal only 2% of women fit."
